Chalet Z'Gogwärgji is an original barn conversion (originally used for sheep or storing hay). The entire chalet on 3 floors is at the disposal of our guests
We have endeavoured to retain most of the facade from the 18th century by using the original Larchwood (from the local forests) for the exterior and much of the interior thus evoking a real sense of past combined with cosy luxury. All the flooring is stone and Larchwood and the under floor electric heating ensures maximum well-being.
Situated in the heart of the old village called "English Viertel" near the river, the chalet is close to all facilities and mountain departure stations. It has been lovingly reconstructed on 3 floors and comprises:
Entrance hall: lower floor: steam bath for relaxation after a day in the mountains, wine cellar with a selection of local Valais wines, laundry room, twin bedroom with ensuite shower/wc and ski room
Winding wooden stairs to: 1st floor: twin bedroom with ensuite shower/wc and,
Top floor: luxurious living/dining room and fully -equipped open-plan kitchen

The skiing, hiking and scenery in Zermatt are of the highest class. There are three main ski areas split into Sunegga, Gornegrat and Kleine Matterhorn. It also possible to ski direct into Cervinia in Italy, which has lovely south facing slopes. On piste dining is where Zermatt is head and shoulders above the rest of the Alpine resorts. The tiny hamlet of Findelin on the Sunegga side of the ski mountain is fantastic and has a number of quality Alpine offerings. The restaurants of Chez Vroni and Findelhof (Franz and Heidi’s) are fabulous. Zermatt has a wonderfully varied collections of restaurants anything from Sushi, Italian, Fondue and grill restaurants. Some of the best would be Le Marzot, Le Gitan at the hotel Darioli or the Le Grill at the Mont Cervin Hotel. For the children the Hotel Post on the high street has great pasta, pizza and American food. For Fondue head to the Whymperstube which is part of the Hotel Monte Rosa. This restaurant is named after Edward Whymper who returned to the Monte Rosa after the first successful ascent of the Matterhorn in 1880. The nightlife is equally varied and offers Jazz bars, upmarket wine bars and the usual pub après ski types. One of the best upmarket bars in the Vernisage (located in the Cinema) which is architecturally very contemporary.

Zermatt is located in the Southern Rhone area underneath the famous Matterhorn mountain. From Geneva, Milan or Zurich it is possible to take the Train to Brig or Visp and then change to the mountain railway up to Zermatt. If you are driving Geneva is the best airport and cars can be left in Tasch at the base of the mountain.
