Walthamstow - ‘Place of Welcome’ (as described in the Domesday Book).
Located directly off (2 minutes walk) Walthamstow's busy cosmopolitan high street (which boasts a variety of shops, supermarkets, pubs, cafes and Europe’s longest market), within short walking distance of St James Street overground train station (to Liverpool Street) and Walthamstow Central/Blackhorse Road underground stations on the Victoria line. This is a direct link to the Eurostar terminal in Kings Cross (15 minutes) and a 20 minute ride to Central London (Oxford Street). Blackhorse Road is one stop from Tottenham Hale, which is the terminus for Stansted Express. Tube trains to Camden take approximately 35 – 40 minutes.
15 - 20 minute bus, cab or car journey to the Olympic Stadium and Westfield (Europe’s largest urban shopping centre) in Stratford. Mountain Bike event in Essex is 45 minute car journey or approximately 1 hour by train. 5 minute drive to North Circular (London’s ring road) and M11 motorway (40 minute drive to Stansted Airport)
On street resident permit parking available – 1 temporary permit (maximum 4 weeks) will be supplied as part of the rental fee. Additional parking permits for visitors (1 hour, 2 hour and 5 hour) will be available for a fee on request.
We are close to the edge of Epping Forest, which features attractive ancient woodland and grassed areas that are perfect for games, picnics and dog walking. The forest also features a boating lake and cafes. Other attractions in the immediate area include the William Morris gallery and Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge. For food, Historic Walthamstow Village is a 10 minute walk away, boasting several good restaurants and pubs. The Alfred Hitchcock Hotel (where Hitchcock himself wrote ‘The Birds’), is located close to the boating lake and has a quaint bar and good quality carvery. It is a short drive to the Kings Head in Chigwell, a 15th century pub made famous by Charles Dickens in ‘Barnaby Rudge’, serving gastro-pub food seven days a week. We are also 10 minutes by tube to Islington Upper Street with a host of good restaurants, bars, a cinema and theatre.

Spacious 2 bedroom ground floor flat with garden. Wheelchair accessible throughout. Shared entrance hall.
Large open plan living room/fully equipped kitchen with ample seating, dishwasher, 5 hob gas cooker/oven, fridge-freezer, WiFi broadband internet and cable TV. Extra sleeping (for 1 or 2) could be provided in living area on large comfortable sofas. Dining table seats 6. Restored vintage 1950s kitchen units and retro furniture are a feature.
Large bathroom with walk-in shower, deep Victorian-style bath, WC and vanity unit.
Utility room with washing machine.
Master bedroom with Super King-size waterbed (water mattress can be replaced with memory foam mattress if required at no extra cost) and fitted wardrobes (wardrobe space will be made available for use), leading to a unique, sunny, private and secluded designer garden with hot tub Jacuzzi, chimenea and large seating/dining area.
2nd double bedroom with comfortable day bed, which can be used as a single bed or quickly converted to a large double bed. Crib/Cot can be provided if required at no extra cost.
Bed linen and towels will be provided (included in price.)
This is our home and we try to make it as comfortable as possible. We have a large selection of books across all genres (including several reference/guide books on London), a variety of board games, a Playstation 3, Nintendo WII, a projector (great for home cinema), DVD player with small selection of DVDs, a CD stereo with surround sound and a large selection of CDs, all of which you are welcome to use.
The flat will be cleaned and bed linen changed weekly (included in price.)
Well behaved pets will be considered.
We will be staying in our Motorhome a short distance away from the flat, so if you require assistance with anything during your stay, we will be able to help.
Price per week is £2000 for 4 people. If additional persons are required (staying in living room) a supplement of £200 per person per week would be charged. If you require additional or extended dates, please enquire.
