A perfect romantic retreat for couples looking for a quiet break in peacful surroundings. Approximately 200 years old yet tastefully restored, the cottage has been recently furnished to a high standard throughout. Period featues sit well with the luxury touches including your music centre, iPod docking station, 32" LCD TV with over 350 DVDs to choose from.
Downstairs offers an antique pine floor with luxurious and open plan comfy seating area together with a modern, fully equipped, solid oak kitchen. Upstairs is fully carpeted presenting spectacular panoramic views over the countryside. The bathroom, with integral shower, has quality fittings for that touch of luxury. The bedroom is of generous proportions with an antique dressing table, double bed and furnished to the highest standard, and can also accommodate a cot or childrens rollout if necessary. The property has full central heating throughout and its own private parking area.
The Grooms House also affords the opportunity for guests to charter our narrowboat, Narnia II, moored adjacent to The Old Rectory. Try your hand at operating the nearby Strensham Lock on your way to lunch at the riverside pub at Twyning. Alternatively snuggle up on the huge, comfy, corner sofa and watch your favourite movies from our library of over 300 DVDs. Dine inside at the built in breakfast bar or outside on your own private patio area with gas bbq. Alternatively take to the footpaths all around, on foot, by bike or even horseback discovering good food, beers, and our local award winning farm shop down the lane.
The Old Rectory is situated well away from the main village, next to Strensham Church, commanding beautiful views of Malvern and Bredon hills. The situation of the rectory is so paradisical, overlooking the rich valley of the Avon that I can excuse the occupants for lingering behind as long as possible. (note: this last sentence is a quote from the history of Strensham on the web not the owners)
The next nearest village is Twyning, 5 mins away in the bordering county of Gloucestershire, with its two pubs: one on the village green where you can try your hand at skittles or theres the The Fleet right on the River Avon where you can tuck into an extensive carvery and real ales. Down the lane at Strensham you can walk, jog or cycle to the local farm shop, jammed with local produce and treats; sit in their old fashion tea room and have a clotted cream tea ...and just slow down! Any direction you care to take off in you will find an amazing selection of high quality, welcoming gourmet pubs of immense character, right in the vicinity.
John Betjeman described the view from here as 'the fairest in all England': layers of gardens tumble down to the River Avon's barges while beyond lies rural farmland cocooned by Bredon Hill.
