Stunningly located Villa "Casa Tranquila" with Private Pool

Description

The villa is extremely private, with trees or wall/balustrade all around it. The free form pool has safe Roman styled steps that are ideal for the timid to sit and dip their toes and with a gentle slope half way down the pool. There is a lovely 'mirador' area, ideal for drinks and barbecues. 1 double bedroom with en-suite and the twin bedroom are at one end of the villa, overlooking the pool, and beyond the lounge is the family bathroom and the other bedroom with 5-ft double bed. Internet access (charge applies). Winter lets may be considered, please enquire.

The villa has air-conditioning to the lounge and both double bedrooms with a free standing fan in the third. Fully double glazed with mosquito screens to all windows and doors. The villa, pool and grassed area are all on one level. Please note that we ask our guests not to smoke inside the villa and to dispose of cigarette ends responsibly. There is a study with great views and Pay As You Go Internet access, just plug in your laptop and pay 15 euros per week or 6 euros per day (correct as of May 2010). The internal layout is very convenient for groups other than immediate family - 1 double bedroom with en-suite and the twin bedroom (with patio doors) are at one end of the villa, overlooking the pool, and beyond the lounge is the family bathroom and the other bedroom with 5-ft double bed. This makes it convenient for 2 couples sharing, or a family with grandparents. We do not accept children under 10 years of age.

From the front of the villa the door opens out onto a covered arched terrace with stunning views down to the sea, to the side of the terrace is the archway to the pool and garden area. The area around the pool is a combination of tiles and grass, yes grass! Much kinder to the feet in hot weather! There is an outside shower adjacent to the pool. Near the pool, where you can dine al fresco, is the 'mirador', a slightly raised eating/drinking/entertaining area, the perfect spot to take in the beautiful views. The pool is free form and approximately 8 x 4m. The front of the garden is surrounded by balustrade. The garden and pool are well lit at night. The villa has outside seating and sun loungers. Please note that whilst the villa and pool area are on one, flat level, there are some steep garden areas above and below the villa and therefore children would need to be supervised in those areas. There are steps up to the area at the rear, which has been left natural/wooded.

Coast/Beach

Torre del Mar (25 mins by car) is one of the main tourist resorts of the Costa del Sol. The town has four kilometres of wide sandy beaches flanked by a long beachfront promenade with pretty views along the coast and of the hills and mountains behind dotted with white houses and villages. Closer to home is Torrox Costa (15 minutes drive). The popular town of Nerja, where Burriana Beach can be found, is 20km away.

Golf

The nearest golf course is only 30 minutes drive away at Baviera Golf, Caleta.

Skiing

Skiing in the Sierra Nevadas is 2 hours away.

Special interest holidays

Early/late season can provide wonderful opportunties for walking, horseriding, sightseeing, mountain biking etc.

Travel

Airports - Malaga 84km/52 miles 50 minutes journey time.

Granada 209km/130 miles 2.5 hours. The nearest ferry port is Malaga 84km/52 miles 50 mins. A car is essential unless taxis are to be used extensively. The drive from Malaga airport is mainly coastal motorway, then 15 minutes inland mountain road from Torrox Costa, and then just a few hundred metres along a level but bumpy track. The driveway to the villa is reasonably steep but short and concreted.

Distances

The villa is 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport, and mid way (10 minutes to each) from the white washed mountain village of Competa, known locally as the 'Pearl of the Axarquia' and the coastal village of Torrox Costa. It is ideally situated within easy driving distance of the coast as well as the villages of Competa, Archez and Canillas de Albaida. The popular resort of Nerja is 20km away. Granada and the Alhambra Palace are approx 2.5 hrs and Gibraltar approx 3 hrs drive.

Further details

There is a very friendly, British run pub/restaurant just a few minutes walk from the villa for those occasions when you just want to go for a quick stroll for a drink and/or a meal. Close enough for convenience but not too close to hear or see it from the villa. Competa has a wide variety of shops and two small supermarkets. There are many restaurants and bars to choose from in Competa or other local villages. NOTE: Long let/late booking/small party discounts/short breaks (minimum 4 nights@ £90 per night) and winter holidays may be available, please enquire. We are flexible about start and finish days. A security deposit of £200 is required before arrival and is refundable after inspection of the property. Deductions may be made for damage/major breakages (not odd crockery mishaps) and excessive cleaning. We reserve the right to charge for the keyholders time for frequent call outs over minor issue
