This family house is of half timbered Tudor design, and whilst it retains its character with inglenook fireplaces and low ceilings and beams it has all the modern touches you would expect. The house is situated in the small village of Chalton which has a farm selling fresh free range eggs and meat. There is a good dining pub a few steps from the house. The larger village of Toddington is 2 miles away and has a historic church, a library, a number of village shops, and various takeaways. The 7 pubs in Toddington offer a wide range of dining options. Leagrave, a suburb of Luton is 3 miles away with fast access to London (45 mins) and Bedford (20 mins). Milton Keynes 15 miles to the north, offers a wealth of shopping and entertainment. Oxford and Cambridge are an hour's drive away.

Boys weekend away
We had a perfect weekend at Gostelow House.
After scouring the country I stumbled upon this gem of a place for our boys weekend. It was a perfect weekend of sun, beer, bbq's and relaxation. There is even a pub next door!
The house was great, plenty of room for all 12 of us and was in a great location for all of us coming from London. I can highly recommend Gostelow House and the owner who was incredibly helpful and friendly.
We all hope to return sometime soon!

Perfect Reunion vacation
Trying to find the ideal place to stay when organising a university reunion for 12 adults and 4 chldren under 4, all whilst living in America is not easy. However the owners of Gostelow House managed to make it as pain free as it could be. A perfect house in a perfect location (both in terms with being just off the M1 and right next to a pub!) but with the added bonus of quite literally being their home so you want for nothing. All our needs were met and we really enjoyed a sunny, stress free weekend in a house that exudes character. I would recommend it to anyone.

14 friends for a weekend!
We had a brilliant time at Gostelow House.
The owner was very helpful from beginning to end; communicating regularly and giving clear instructions. She also went above the call of duty taking delivery of a food order and unpacking it before we arrived!
The property is a lovely house with original features, really magical. The garden is fantastic. The heat wave meant we spent most of our time out on the spacious patio, listening to music blasting from the bar and taking regular dips in the pool.
With 14 people staying it was fine space wise. I'm not sure how it would have worked out on a cold or wet weekend when we'd all have been inside but it's certainly spacious for a smaller group. Some rooms are cluttered but the owner cleared fridge, cupboard and wardrobe space for our things and we managed to cater for everyone, for three meals a day with no problems.
I would definitely recommend this property to my friends and family if they were planning a weekend for a big group of people. It is convenient from several directions, a car is useful but Leagrave station is just a few minutes away.

Hen do 11th July
I booked Gostelow House for a weekend for my sister's hendo. It's in a really good location as it is close to Milton keynes and there are a lot of sightseeing hotspots in the area. The house was really lovely, with plenty of room to house the 14 of us. We were made to feel very welcome, with the owner of the house even leaving a couple of bottles of champagne in the fridge as a gift for the bride-to-be! The huge garden with outside bar area and BBQ was the perfect venue for BBQ and games and some of the more crazy hens even managed to brave the pool! The garden felt very secluded, as there is a pub on one side and the village hall on the other, so we were able to make as much noise as we liked! Overall, a fantastic weekend was had by all so thanks to the owners for making it possible!
I would definitley recommend this cottage and hope to visit again in the future.

Weekend break at Gostelow House
I found that this was a fantastic place to go for a weekend break. It is about an hour from north London and really easy to find. The house itself is really pretty - it is refreshing to find 5 double bedrooms rather than having to mess about with single beds and each bedroom is of a good size and very comfortable. The dining table indoors seats ten and you could probably get about four more around there. The garden is fantastic - very large, with a pool, a patio area with dining table and chairs and there are two barbeques. The outside bar and music system are a good touch too. The property is nicely kept and very comfortable, and the owners provide very good customer service.

Gorgeous Gostelow Getaway
We rented the house for a quiet country hen weekend for 14 friends. The owner was more than helpful in making the weekend special for us all. Before and during our stay, she went above and beyond the call of duty to help us plan the weekend (for example, she took a delivery of a large number of flowers for us and arranged them around the house). She even left us a couple of bottles of champagne in the fridge.
It's very easy to find the property if you follow the directions given. The house is clean, with sheets and towels provided for all guests. The house has lovely gardens, which were great to sit in and enjoy a leisurely cup of tea.
There is a pub next door (which you can't see or hear from the house) where we went for a hearty Sunday lunch and there are good walks around the local area. The well-stocked kitchen and good-sized reception and dining room, make this place ideally suited to large parties. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Birthday weekend
I hired Gostelow house to celebrate my birthday with 11 friends. Even before getting to the cottage I had a good experience as the owner was very friendly over the phone in arranging logistics for arriving and answering any questions I had.
Once we arrived the house matched its description and was very well presented; the owner even left two bottles of champagne in the fridge which was a nice gesture. Some of the bedrooms are a bit small but were perfectly adequate and comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen facilities were also good and there is a supermarket nearby if you need to stock up on goods. The owner is also available on the phone to answer any questions about the property.
The garden is very spacious with room to kick a football around and the owner also has garden games to play. There is plenty of outdoor seating and a barbeque which was easy to use.
The only slightly disappointing aspect was the pool could not really be used because of the time of year but should be fine in July/August.
On returning home my deposit was returned within a few days with no problems.
Overall, all of my party had a fantastic time and I would certainly recommend this property to others.
Gostelow House
A dozen of us rented Gostelow House for four days over New Year and it proved to be a great choice. For anyone self catering there is a very well provided kitchen and a proper dining room. Fires in both the dining room and living room contribute to the cosy feel. Extremely easy to get to from the M1 and only 10 mins from Leagrave station. Plenty of countryside nearby for those who fancy the fresh air. We played golf at Chalgrave Manor (5 mins) and the girls went to the Spa at Luton Hoo (25 mins). There is a pub next door to the house with a pretty extensive (if standard) menu if you fancy eating somewhere you can easily stumble home from. The owner could not be more helpful - always handy when you're in an area you don't know well."
