Unique timber lodge in a stunning location

The lodge is on two levels with the master bedroom (with en suite shower room) on the main level along with a spacious open plan living and dining area with 180 degree view of the Caribbean sea and Castara Beach. There is a well equipped kitchen that opens onto a private deck area. Beneath is a second large bedroom (twin or king size bed) with en suite shower room and separate entrance and outside deck. This affords a great deal of privacy for two couples or a couple with older children. The lodge is furnished and equipped to a very high standard.

Birdsong is part of Castara Retreats - a small eco resort right above the fishing village of Castara and the beach - four minutes walk to either. The village has five or six little cafes and bars and a couple of shops for basics - you can buy fish as fresh as it gets every day if you like cooking or order a meal in. As you stroll around the gardens, enjoy the landscape of grassy banks, fragrant shrubs, exotic flowers, and towering trees: our gardens are extensive. This forms the immediate environment for Birdsong, from which to view the abundant bird and sea life. Aside from the lodge's private viewing deck, there is another more centrally placed for socialising or just sitting and taking in the breath taking views. We have a number of fruiting trees, the fruits of which are available to our guests according to the season: mangoes, papaya, banana, limes, lemons, plantain, and avocado.

Our Tobago managers, Porridge and his wife Jeanell, are always at hand to ensure your every comfort. They often arrange a Barbeque so all our guests can get together for an evening under the stars. Boat trips for snorkeling or fishing can be arranged along with world class birding in the rainforest.

Birdsong offers a unique experience in Tobago - there are no hotels or high rise developments in Castara and our guests are welcome visitors in the village rather than tourists. The result is an authentic Caribbean experience.
