Windy Edge was designed and built by a former US ambassador to Japan and it is still known on the island as the Ambassador's House. Set on the top of Cinnamon Hill, it has sensational views over the Caribbean and Atlantic seas and catches the cooling breezes, unlike many coastal properties. It is a large well-designed home with high ceilings and ceiling fans, all the windows have adjustable louvered slats for security and are netted against insects. The whole house has recently been redecorated to a high standard throughout.
It is a spacious high ceiling house, with large airy living and dining rooms; it sleeps up to 10, having five double bedrooms. 3 of the bedrooms have en suite facilities 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, making 4 bathrooms in total. A wide veranda surrounds the house with extensive al fresco dining area, barbecue, comfortable seating areas, and table tennis. The house stands in 2.5 acres of mature grounds with many tropical fruit trees for guests to enjoy and a good-sized pool (16'x32') which is serviced 3 times a week. 6-day maid service with cooking/babysitting if required. Gardens are well-maintained, safe for children and toddlers, and are home to many varieties of exotic birds and butterflies. Beaches, restaurants and shops are all within easy reach.
Tobago is the unspoiled gem of the Caribbean. Set close to Venezuela it is well below the hurricane belt and shares many of the floras and fauna of South America. It contains a very old rain forest reserve which was preserved in the 18th Century to ensure adequate rain supplies for the plantations.
The whole island has a good rainfall which ensures that it remains green and fertile with wonderful tropical plants and flowers. People are friendly and the beaches are easily accessible with safe bathing in warm waters.
The area known as Concordia used to be a large cocoa estate in the old plantation days. Now it is a pleasant residential area in the hills about ten minutes from the nearest beach, Little Bacolet Bay. Ambassador's House lies up a drive just off the road across the island to the northern Caribbean coast, where you will find many beautiful beaches, some with small bars, and some by a small fishing village. The main town of Tobago, Scarborough is down the hill about a 10-minute drive away. It has a vibrant market and banks, pharmacies, supermarket and post office.
Restaurants are located all over the island and very accessible from the house, the nearest are the 'Salsa Kitchen' or 'Ciao', both in Scarborough. Phone numbers are in the phone book at the house.

A taste of Paradise
My party of four could not have been happier with our stay in ambassador's House. We wanted to stay somewhere real not a purpose built holiday rental and this home was perfect! The layout of the house while open plan and sociable still offered the option for privacy. The Gardens, the pool. the views and the bird song - we felt we were in paradise!.
On the practical side every implement you could need in the kitchen is provided including cooking basics washing powder etc (not a holiday norm)Lesley ann the beautiful housekeeper is a daily advantage too, any requests were dealt with speedily. Both the house and gardens are maintained to a very high standard and I could not if I tried find any fault with this holiday home rental.
We loved our stay and will return!
