Chalet Floranneve is a home ...Fully furnished with some lovely old pieces... Most of which we have shipped over from the UK. It is a wonderful house to stay in. We have a big family sitting room at the top of the house with a great entertainment system for those evenings when the suggestion of board games and cards is met with long faces from the kids! We have under-floor heating in various rooms so the house is very warm and snug in the winter - especially when the wood burner is fired up in the sitting room. The master bedroom is very spacious with its own conservatory style balcony. The self contained ground floor apartment/bedroom offers great space for teenage kids or a couple wanting a little privacy.
Bovec is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. As well as attracting skiers in the winter and water adventurers (Canoeing, kayaking rafting etc) in the summer, Bovec is very popular Spring and Autumn with walkers, trekkers, botanist and artists: the weather is warm and temperatures are perfect for exploring.. The flora is exceptional during these seasons.
Bovec also offers spectacular mountain biking and you can take bikes up the ski-lift which runs all year round and cycle back to the village by a variety of forest trails. Bikes can be rented locally and sensibly priced..
There is first class fly-fishing in the crystal clear Soca which has trout, grayling and the famous marbled trout which can grow up to 20kgs! Licences and passes can be purchased locally.
River sports include white-water rafting, kayaking and canyoning, all of which can be arranged in the town though our house manager. Discounts on a range of tourists are available through our network.... please enquire
Paragliding is also popular and available locally.
Horse-riding is available locally but, less than 2 hours drive will take you to the world famous Lipica stud and riding school with its dancing Lipizzaner horses.... a great day out for the family.
Bovec has several good restaurants serving delicious local food and excellent regional wines. There are shops for all your general requirements. There is a bank, pharmacy, hairdressers and a petrol garage. Also, there is an indoor pool with great ‘wellness’ facilities in the Kanin Hotel in the centre of town. Great space for the ladies to enjoy a little pampering!

Please note there is a local tourist tax payable in the resort of 1 Euro per person per day. This is sorted out by the house manager on your arrival
Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday but this can be flexible by arrangement. Access to the house is from 3pm on the date of arrival and we ask you to vacate the house by 10 am on the day of departure.

The main kitchen is at the top of the house on the same floor as the dining area and the sitting room ... thus making it a good communal area for cooking, eating, drinking and relaxing... and just being together. recommended Situated in the Julian Alps, Bovec is easily accessable compared with most mountain resorts. Bovec is one of only a handful of resorts that seems to tick just about every box. |

Coast/Beach Bovec is in the North-West of Slovenia close to the borders for Italy and Austria but being only a small country the Adriatic coast is only 100 kilometres to the South - about 2 hours drive, well worth visiting. Golf There is a beautiful 18 hole golf course 30 mins drive away at Tarvisio just over the Italian border with mountain views. There is also a 9 hole golf course just 1km from Bovec in a picturesque valley with a river which provides some challenging golf! Great fun. Golf clubs can be organised upon request. Skiing Bovec provides the highest skiing in Slovenia on the Kanin and the ski-lift is 2 mins drive from the house. A shuttle bus will runs from the centre of town at regular intervals. The new link from the Kanin Mountain over in to Italy to Sella Nevea is now open...this provides an extra 23kms of skiing. Local Ski passes also valid for 3 other resorts - 2 in Italy and 1 in Austria - all within approx 30 mins drive from the house. .

Travel
Bovec is approx 90 minutes from three airports - Ljubljana, Trieste and Klagenfurt. Also under 3 hours from Venice and Graz airports. To make the most of the available activities car hire is recommended and is available from all airports, also from the nearby town of Kobarid. We can arrange for transfers to Bovec from any of these airports if required but this will incur an extra fee.
Distances
Being in the Triglav National Park, there is fantastic range of activities right on the doorstep with the stunning emerald green river Soca running through it, but also, there are also many places of interest to visit nearby. There is a museum dedicated to the 1st World War, in Kobarid 15 mins drive. The world famous Skocjan caves are less than 2 hours away. The town of Bled with its stunning lakeside location can be reached by a combination of road and interesting motorail in about 90 mins.
Perfect family accommodation
We rented Floranneve for our first family skiing holiday in early March 2011.
To call it a chalet is a bit misleading, as it's massive - easily accomoodating the four adults and five kids who made up our group!
The apartment manager lives right next door and was on hand to sort out any little niggles that came up during our stay. The house was spotlessly clean on our arrival, there are more pots and pans you could possibly use in a week, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer - everything in fact you could possibly need for a family holiday.
Bovec itself is a small town handily situated for sking either at Kanin at the end of the town or in two Italian resorts - Tarvisio and Sella Nevea.
We spent the bulk of our time at the two Italian places as they are much better equipped for beginners and intermediates then Kanin itself. The six day ski pass gives you unlimited access to Kanin and Sella Nevea and two days in Tarvisio.
I would recommend (if you are beginners) spending the first two days in Tarvisio as the nursery slopes are excellent.
The best thing about skiing at these resorts is that they are very quiet during the week - we often had them to ourselves, but they are still perfectly groomed every morning.
In a nutshell, Floraneve is a great base for a family skiing holiday - don't go expecting riotous apres ski or nightlife as Bovec is quite a sleepy little town, but Villa Floranneve is excellent.
