Built in the traditional Alpujarran style, El Tinao is light and spacious, with high ceilings, chestnut beams and slate stone floors throughout. There are two terraces, one for outdoor dining and a barbecue, the other with sunloungers and a heated spa. Both, of course, have those wonderful soaring views over the village, high above Orgiva and across to the Sierra Lugar. Just like at Casa Rif, on a clear day, you can see the Rif Mountains of Morocco. It's easy to lose track of time in Canar, but don't worry - you can also see the village clock tower from the terraces. It won't help you with the day of the week, but at least you'll know when to nip out to catch the bread van for croissants in the morning!.
If relaxing, and doing-not-very-much-at-all is the key to a good holiday, then there are a few things you might like to know are fairly effort-free - in between all those exhausting hours spent by the pool or spa, of course.
The beaches of the Costa Tropical are less than an hour's drive from La Alpujarra.
Salobrena and Almunecar are the main resorts, but there are also loads of quiet secluded coves dotted along the coastline.
Park yourself at a bar or cafe in Orgiva or Cadiar, order a cold beer and tapas, and watch the world go by... there's usually something to catch the eye!
Whether in Canar or Juviles, you don't usually have to walk far along the GR7 to find an interesting spot to relax.
This 200ft waterfall is an easy 25 minute walk from Canar.
Market days in Orgiva and Cadiar are usually a busy affair.
Great for local crafts, fresh fruit and vegetables, organic produce and spices.
The Alhambra isn't the only attraction in Granada.
There's an excellent shopping district, but if things get a bit too hectic, you can always take a break in the city's vibrant cafe culture. Or escape the crowds altogether with a visit to city's Hammam Arab baths.
A unique experience!
Take a gentle stroll through the ancient, narrow streets of any Alpujarran village.
Wonderful displays of colour with invariably spectacular views at every turn.

La Alpujarra has its own unique weather system. Whereas on the coast the temperatures are fairly constant all year round, the combination of mountain air and valleys in La Alpujarra make the weather more changeable.
Summers are often hot and dry, with temperatures up to the 40Cs. Rain and cloud is rare, but can occur in the higher mountains, however it never lasts long. Winters are still quite warm and relatively sunny during the day, but can be a lot colder at night after the sun has gone down. If visiting during this time, it is recommended you bring jumpers and jeans. Both seasons have their advantages - a BBQ in the summer, and an evening in-front of a roaring fire in the winter
The best time for walking in La Alpujarra is from April to mid-June, and from mid-September to mid-November. The high peaks of Mulhacen and Veleta in the Sierra Nevada are best attempted in July and August, when the air is that bit cooler at high altitude.
As La Alpujarra is a delightful mixture of mountains and valleys it is difficult to give a guide of expected temperatures as the weather can change during just a short journey from village to village, and from different altitudes.
