This lovely converted barn in the delightful village of Salignac is located near the amenities. The property is divided into a romantic 1-bedroom cottage (including a 4-poster bed, with views of the medieval chateau) and a spacious 2-bedroom cottage which has retained many of the original features. If both gites are required, the soundproof door between the two units can be unlocked. Each cottage is self-contained, with its own private patio, and joint access to the garden and pool. Each has all modern facilities, including central heating and satellite TV. Both keep the standard barn design with their exposed beams and stonework and rustic furniture. There are lovely views all around : the medieval village, the garden, pool, chateaux, among others. This beautiful area of France has something to offer for everyone: prehistoric cave paintings, medieval chateaux, beautiful gardens, pilgrimage spots, outdoor activities, cultural events, foods and wine.
Both cottages have electric fans. A travel cot can be provided on request. The bedrooms are located upstairs, and there are steps to the garden and pool.
Each cottage has its own private patio with barbeque, table and chairs. Both cottages have access to the garden and swimming pool. The pool has an area of 8x4m and depth of 2m. There are chairs, loungers and umbrellas by the pool, and a selection of pool toys. The garden is terraced, with the parking area on the top terrace, and most of the rest laid to lawn.
The Dordogne and Vezere Rivers are both within 15 min. driving distance. These are great sites for canoeing.
The Brive airport is 25 min. drive away, while the Limoges airport is 90 min. drive. Traveling to the apartment from Bergerac and Toulouse takes 80 minutes and 2 hours, respectively. Bordeaux is 2 hour drive away, while Paris is within 5-6 hr driving distance. Calais and Dunkirk are 7-8 hr. drive. Although all essential amenities are within a walking distance, using a car is recommended to make the most out of one’s stay.
The medieval town of Sarlat (known for its large Wednesday and Saturday market and summer drama festival) is about 20 min. drive away, while the bigger town of Brive is about 30 min. drive. There are chateaux, prehistoric caves, gardens, animal parks, many outdoor activities, local village fairs and markets, wineries and nut trails within a few minutes to an hour drive.
The village of Salignac (2 min. walk away) has a couple of restaurants, tourist office, banks, internet access at the Mairie, small supermarket, butcher, bakeshops, salons, flower shop, and an antique shop, among other things. At the edge of the village towards Sarlat is a bigger supermarket, 2 min. drive or maybe 15 min. walk away.
