Description

The cottage is close to the centre of the village of Talybont on Usk but private as it is behind a wall and the garden is secure and gated. The Coach House was still a Coach House until the late 80's when the present owners came to live in the house - there were horses in the adjoining stables and hay up in the granary. The owner keeps bees and at the bottom of the very long garden there are several bee hives so during the summer visitors are asked to keep away from that area. This is not a problem as the garden is exceptionally long and they are well away from the lawns and swimming pool area.

A very well equipped and easy to use kitchen with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher; kitchen table and chairs. A utility room with central heating boiler, freezer, washing machine and sink. Downstairs toilet and handbasin. There are two easy steps and a hand-rail down to this toilet. The sitting room has double glass doors so is light and comfortable with new sofa and chairs, Freesat TV with DVD. An open fire burning wood or coal. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, and a spacious landing with a double sofa bed if required.

For visitors who may have mobility problems there is a Stannah Stair Lift - so perhaps suitable for older visitors. The Master Bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, separate shower, handbasin and toilet.

Car required?	recommended property is in Talybont on Usk Talybont Village has four excellent local pubs, one to suit every taste, all providing food and a shop, Post Office and Cafe. The River Caerfanell, a tributary of The River Usk runs through the village to The Usk a quarter of a mile away - always popular with fishermen in the summer and canoeists in the winter. The cottage is also on the bus route from Brecon to Abergavenny, useful for some visitors. The owners live in The Malt House with the nearby stone Coach House in the gardens; they both date from approximately the early 1800's and are set in two and a half acre of beautifully kept landscaped gardens running alongside the River Caerfanell - there is wooden decking all down the garden beside the river bank designed for wheel chair access. In 1851 Henry Powell who at that time lived in the house was described as a "Woollen Facturer" and his son as a weaver. After the Railway was opened the building was named 'The Machine House and occupied by a Maltser but by 1891 Thomas Watts, a butcher was resident at 'Riverside House' (extract from 'the Talybont Saga' P.154).
