Description

Glaswain Cottage is a traditional 19th century farm worker's cottage situated on a very quiet country lane midway between the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. This simple, character property provides a warm welcome inside with a lovely stove and has lots of space outside with a lawned garden and small orchard to enjoy. Glaswain is surrounded by rolling fields and provides a secluded base for those looking to explore Mid-Wales and Herefordshire. There are two great pubs a couple of miles away in Llyswen and the towns of Brecon and Hay-on-Wye are each just 7 miles away.

Glaswain provides comfortable accommodation for up to 5 people in 2 double bedrooms and a single, accessed via one of the double rooms.

The fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker, fridge, microwave, table and chairs. The sitting/dining room boasts a lovely stove set in a stone fireplace with an impressive wooden lintel, sofas, a pine dining table and chairs and a TV with Freeview, DVD and CD player. Situation up a quiet country lane, midway between the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons Glaswain is a full 1/2 mile from its nearest neighbour and is surrounded by rolling fields. This secluded cottage has a garden laid mostly to lawn and a small wild orchard. A lovely place to enjoy a summer BBQ or for the children to play. A wonderful spot for wildlife watching In its peaceful position, surrounded by fields and lovely views, Glaswain is the ideal location from which to enjoy bird-watching and to observe wildlife of all kinds. Red Kites are a common sight in these parts and a trip to the nearby town of Rhayader will bring you to the Red Kite feeding centre - an incredible sight. Enjoy a meal at the Griffin Inn or tea and cakes at the Honey Cafe Ivy-clad with oak beams and log fires, the Griffin Inn dates back to 1647 and sits at the centre of the pretty village of Llyswen, a comfortable 2 mile walk from Glaswain. Enjoy the warm welcome, real ales, fines wines and great home-cooked food before heading back out into the countryside to walk it all off. 2 miles in the opposite direction is the charming Honey Cafe. It offers a selection of snacks and cakes as well as a small, traditional gift shop and has a fantastic reputation. Brecon - The Heart of the Brecon Beacons and Close to The Black Mountains Travel the 7 miles and explore the bustling market town of Brecon. There is the picturesque canal, alongside which sits the acclaimed Theatr Brycheiniog providing a theatre auditorium which plays hosts to many well-known acts, an art gallery and renowned restaurant with terrace over looking the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal. A ten minute walk from the canal brings you to the centre of Brecon with it's mixture of well-known shops and small boutiques and gift shops. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs to discover and a small cinema.
