It is is ideal for families and most facilities are available within walking distance or via the local bus route. There is an 8 lane lawn bowling green at nearby Montes de Alvor. For car racing fans the formula one race track is 20 mins away by car. Taxi to local areas such as Portimao are relatively inexpensive and costs around 5/6 euros or 1.4 euros on the local bus. You can purchase a multi-journey pass. There is an open market in Portimao on the first Monday of the month and Alvor on the second Tuesday. Entertainment such as Slide and Splash, Crazy World, Zoo Marine (swim with the dolphins), Ten Pin Bowling, the Nature Reserve, are all within 30-40 min bus ride. Booking these and things like horse riding and cycling can be made at the travel agents a few doors away from Alisupermarket in Alvor. The local tourist office can advise on excursions.
The apartment is suitable for children and is very safe. Please note smoking is not permitted in the apartment but it is ok to smoke on the balcony. We would meet you at the apartment to hand over the keys on arrival and leave a contact number should you encounter any problems. Please note we expect our guests to leave the apartment in the condition that it is found.
The apartment is not suitable for wheelchair users or persons with severe disability. There is a shared pool with adjacent pool bar (open summer season) with attached children's pool. The gardens are lawned and well maintained with views to the coast.
The Alvor beach is approx 10-15 mins stroll or 2 mins by car. One of the longest and safest beaches in the Algarve. It has clear sand, lovely rock formations and coves to the east side. Sand dunes beyond the unspoilt harbour towards the bay of Lagos to the west. There are water sports, and lifeguards from April to September. Several very good restaurants and bars are located along the beach.
The Alvor town centre is approx 20 mins walk or 5 mins car drive. There are a number of supermarkets, shops, banks and a very good variety of restaurants, bars and pubs, many have good entertainment and stay open until late. There is a market specialising in freshly caught fish and fresh vegetables.

25% deposit required at the time of booking (non-refundable). Balance required 8 weeks before departure. A breakage/damage deposit of £100 is required and on inspection will be returned provided there is no damage to the building or the contents. Please note: guests are responsible for their own insurance.

Travel:
Alvor is approx 45 mins from Faro airport by car on the very good A22 motorway. You can get a minibus transfer for under £50 return for 2 adults. Hiring a car is easy and reasonable. Local buses stop just round the corner. The low cost airlines that fly into Faro make it relatively inexpensive for flights.
Distances:
The apartment is 10-15 mins walk to the fantastic long beach that reaches all the way to the lovely fishing village. All along the beach are bars/restaurants and the fishing village has some lovely fish restaurants.
