Description
This delightful seaside chalet is set in its own acre of land lying just above woodlands beside Froe Creek and offers guests a perfect base for exploring one of Cornwall's most beautiful areas which is the Roseland. The Roseland peninsular with St Anthony Lighthouse protects the entrance to Falmouth Bay in South Cornwall. This unspoiled peninsula on the southern side of Falmouth Bay is part of the Carrick Roads and is one of the largest natural harbours in the world.
Close by within the chalet are several beautiful walks around the headland to three other beaches, the lighthouse at St Anthony Head and also to the village of Portscatho one and half miles away. This nearest village of Portscatho has a superlative shop and butcher, pubs with wifi and is only a mile and half by road or by the coastal path by foot. There are other nearby towns too including the Cathedral city of Truro and the busy port of Falmouth both offering good shops and restaurants which can be easily driven using the delightful King Harry car ferry running every twenty minutes. All these are lovely old fashioned towns which is a joy to shop or eat in.
Aside from nearby towns the area also offers numerous interesting sites like the Eden Project just a short drive away, the Tate Gallery at St Ives, the Lizard, the Atlantic Coast, Bodmin Moor, Tudor castles at Falmouth and St Mawes, the waterside Church of St Just and several sub-tropical gardens including Trelissick just across from the King Harry Ferry, Caerhays Castle, Lamorran House in St Mawes, the lost gardens of Heligan near Mevagissey, horse riding stables within walking distance, Falmouth and Truro about a half an hour’s drive via the King Harry ferry plus several wonderful beaches and circular coastal walks with beautiful views of both rivers and the sea. The cabin is only about 300 meters from the nearest large sandy secluded beach lying up a rough, drivable track from the road at Froe Creek.
Walking, swimming, riding, bird-watching, sailing and wind-surfing are all ideal activities either on the coast or on the network of rivers which creates the unique landscape of this part of Cornwall. These can be accessed by road or ferries wherein ferries go to St Mawes, Falmouth and Truro, centers for sailing, historic monuments, sub-tropical gardens as well as museums and shops.
