Description

We think Driftwood has it all - great, well equipped, accommodation; fantastic village location in Polruan overlooking Fowey estuary; garden with fab views; local town beach and choice of excellent pubs nearby; broadband - and dog friendly too! The house is decorated & furnished in a light and airy style & offers spacious accommodation for 1/2 families or perfect for the smaller party who wants plenty of space (GENEROUS off peak discounts for smaller parties).

There is a fully equipped kitchen/dining room with washing mac/dryer; dishwasher, microwave and table seating 8; two sitting rooms - one with tv (freesat)/dvd/video and contemporary wood-burning stove (the house also has full central heating) and second sitting room with large flat screen tv & X- Box. A spacious entrance hall provides ample space for coats/leads/buckets and spades etc.

Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom (with doors to garden); twin bedroom with door onto terrace area; a twin bunk room; family bathroom and a shower room. Upstairs is the master bedroom suite with great views across the estuary to Fowey & en-suite bathroom (this room is approached via an alternate tread staircase & not suitable for small children or anyone unsteady on their feet. The room also has irregular ceiling heights).

There is parking for 1 / 2 cars and a tropically planted garden on various levels with ample space to eat an al fresco meal, read or doze in the sun. Garden furniture (Spring - Autumn) is provided. Driftwood comes fully equipped with books, dvd's and a number of televisions to avoid viewing disputes! Broadband is available.

The Fowey Estuary is one of the most attractive areas of the Cornish Coast and is adjacent to miles of open countryside, much of which is owned by the National Trust. Polruan is a delightful, unspoilt fishing village with a jumble of little streets and walkways leading down to the harbour . In the village there are 2 pubs serving good food, a number of shops and a ferry service from the quay links to the larger town of Fowey.

The house is close to the wonderful cliff walks and there are some superb beaches within a short drive or a longer (but very scenic!) walk. There are two small town beaches which provide fun for children but which disappear under water at high tide! The famous Hall Walk around the estuary is just a few moments from our front door.

Driftwood provides comfortable spacious accommodation. We have endeavoured to equip it with much you would expect from a well equipped family house and many of our guests return year after year (and sometimes several times in the same year!).

Please note that there are steps in both the house and the garden and if you have any mobility concerns please contact us to discuss. Small children will need to be monitored in the garden which is on several levels.

We welcome dogs to Driftwood although would ask that they are not left unattended.

Bedlinen can be hired or you can bring your own.
