Description
Cardean Mill is a delightful former Lint Mill in a idyllic riverside setting between two bridges (one of them built in the Roman times). The location is so pretty that people often stop to take photographs from the road bridge.
The Mill was built in 1840 on the banks of Dean Water in the former estate of Cardean. The pretty village of Meigle (thought to be the oldest village in Scotland) in rural Perthshire is within walking distance. We moved to Cardean Mill because of the location and beautiful surroundings and have not been disappointed in everything this area has to offer. The tranquility of the location provides regular sightings of Otters, Kingfishers, Deer, Swans, Heron and Red Squirrels.
Trout fishing is available from the riverside garden. There are some wonderful walks around the area and Golfers are spoilt for choice with four courses all within four miles and many more within 10 miles of Cardean and of course Gleneagles and St Andrews within forty five minutes drive.
The garden ground extends to almost two acres with access to neighbouring woodland, covered in snowdrops and daffodils in the spring, a beautiful walk in itself.
Cardean Mill is ideally situated for easy reach of all that Perthshire has to offer. The mystique and splendour of Glamis Castle is just ten minutes away. Nearby are the enchanting Angus Glens in all there splendour. For the adventurous there is an outdoor activity centre just five miles away offering Clays, Archery, Quads and Tank Driving. The Glenshee Ski Centre is just thirty five minutes drive north through Blairgowrie. The fair City of Perth with shops, Theatres and many attractions is a mere 16 miles away. Scone Palace near Perth, home of the Stone of Destiny, is also well worth a visit.

All activites listed are accessed between 5 minutes and 40 minutes from Cardean Mill. Glamis Castle is open from April and provides a seasonal event Calendar online. There is a Nature Reserve and specimen animal farm about 15 miles east near Forfar along the A94.

Directions
Travelling North for 18 miles from Perth on the A94 (Coupar Angus, Forfar) you will approach Meigle village at the 30 mph speed limit sign. At the 200 metre countdown marker turn sharp left then immediately sharp right (Kirriemuir 10). Follow this road for approximately half a mile. After two tight left hand bends a lodge cottage appears on the right followed by a small paddock in two black Shetland ponies are kept. At the end of the paddock turn right into the narrow lane and then immediately left into the driveway of Cardean Mill (the river is visible from the driveway entrance).
