Overlooked by the peaks of Helvellyn, Skiddaw and Blencathra and in close proximity to gentler but equally beautiful lakesides, walking and climbing are available on the doorstep. Whatever your interest; biking, sailing, wildlife, natural history or just simply relaxing the area around Cragside is crammed with activities for all the family.
A number of public houses and local shops are located within a short walk or drive from the cottage. Larger stores, supermarkets and banks can all be found in the nearby towns of Keswick and Penrith. Leisure activities are available in abundance in all the local towns, at local lakes and in a variety of country parks and historical buildings, which are only a short drive away.
Walking and outdoor activities are available within a short distance of the cottage.

Situated in the north of the Lake District National Park and just eight miles from the M6 motorway at Penrith, Cragside Cottage is an ideal location for exploring not only the North Lakes, but also the beautiful Eden Valley, Border Country, Hadrian's Wall, and the North Pennines. The historic city of Carlisle is just half an hour's ride away, Keswick, the 'capital' of the Northern Lakes ten miles away and Ullswater only five.
The cottage is very easy to find, from the north and south. It is within easy access of the M6 motorway and main routes for access to the surrounding area. A car is recommended for a stay at Cragside in order to benefit fully from the leisure opportunities in the surrounding area.
