Villa Iris is a detached villa situated in a quiet residential cul-de-sac with gated access. Its lovely landscaped gardens have orange, lemon and palm trees. There is a herb garden surrounding the pool and sun terrace. Remote control air-conditioning and heating are available. Ceiling fans have been installed in the lounge, dining area and all the bedrooms. All windows and patio doors have sliding blinds to keep the interior cool. All patio doors have additional locks for security. Fly screens have been installed on the lounge patio doors and on all the bedroom patio doors.
Additional features of the villa include DVD/CD players and a new flat screen TV with satellite and English channels like BBC1,BBC2, ITV1,Channel 4, Sky News, movie channels and kids channels. The CD player has a USB port where an Mp3 player / iPod can be plugged in, allowing guests to listen to their own collection of tunes. There are security safe in the master bedroom for important documents and coded key safe outside the front door.
The villa’s water supply has a pressured system and the hot water is heated by solar panels on the roof. There is a back up immersion heater in case of increased demand. There is a supply of fresh drinking water in the kitchen. Smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher are available.
Villa Iris is very near the Coral Bay, only 5 min. ride away. It has wonderful fine white sand and turquoise sea. There are 2 beach bar cafes serving light lunches, drinks and ice creams. There are plenty of sun loungers with umbrellas which are rented for a moderate fee.
Paphos, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was the ancient capital of Cyprus and a former fishing port. It is often referred to as the birthplace of Aphrodite. The ancient sites and archaeology preserve this noble past.
Cyprus is famously known as the birth place of the goddess Aphrodite, Venus in Roman mythology. Legend says that she emerged from the sea at Aphrodite's Rock.
Take a trip to the Akamas Peninsula, Polis or the Troodos Mountains to witness fantastic sceneries. Akamas is an untouched part of Cyprus with unspoilt coastline and is a traditional seaside location.
Paphos combines ancient history with a cosmopolitan modern tourist resort. The area by the coast is Kato Paphos, which boasts of pretty little harbour and plenty of open air cafes and bars. The old Paphos town, known locally as Ktima, has narrow streets, covered markets and a typical Cypriot atmosphere.
The Troodos Mountain range is 1 hour ride away. The highest peak is Mount Olympus at 6154ft. There are 4 main slopes, all with lifts. Skiing season is from January through April. In the summer, Troodos allows for relaxing walks and sightseeing.
Paphos airport is 30 min. drive from the villa. Renting a car is the easiest way of getting around. Drivers follow the same side of the road as those in England and the roads are generally good. There are road signs in English.
The traditional hillside village of Peyia is one of the prettiest and least spoilt villages in the area. It overlooks the Coral Bay and the Paphos coast. The village has charming little streets and alleyways, with interesting old houses and a beautiful old church. Peyia also has many lively taverns but manages to preserve a friendly local atmosphere.
There are 3 supermarkets, 3 banks with cash points, launderette, flower shop, dentists, doctor and a pharmacy in the locality. There are fresh meat, fresh fish and freshly baked bread in the village, as well as sweet and savory pastries. There are also delis and takeaway foods that are delivered to the villa.
There is an internet café nearby, Grand Café, with 10 computers. Peyia Town Hall is also a very popular wedding venue. There are golf courses on the island, including the Aphrodite Hills, the Tsada, the Secret Valley and the Elias Contry Club.
Paphos main town is 20 min away where there is also a marina. Places of interest in the area include the Paphos Bird Park, reptile park, horse trails, and the Lara Bay which is a famous breeding ground for turtles.
Hiking, buggy safaris, 4x4 safaris, sea caves areas, sailing, water parks and ancient sites such a The Tombs of the Kings are also major attractions.
