Private grassed courtyard with 2 patios, both complete with benches & tables, plus large secluded garden with fruit trees & flower beds. The rear garden backs onto the River Course which flows by and tumbles past the old mill house next door then on under the bridge. Disabled access to the ground floor which has 3 bedrooms, (1 en-suite), bathroom, toilet & shower with reasonably wide doors and virtually even flooring throughout.
Full of character & country charm, around the corner there is an equestrian centre, an Auberge and a bar/restaurant are both within easy walking distance yet we are only minutes from Montreuil sur Mer, Le Touquet & Hardelot beach & golf courses.
For the shop-a-holic, Le Touquet with its shops & boutiques is approx 15 minutes drive. At Boulogne St Martin off the A16, is Auchin hyper-market. Carry on along the A16 another 15 minutes or so and you come to Cite Europe and The Designer Centre.
However, for sheer relaxation, a BBQ & bottle of wine or two in the garden and laying out on one of the benches might just do the trick!
Ours is one of the prime areas in the Pas de Calais set in the "Area des Sept Vallees"; rural in nature with the river winding directly past, it is right on the door-step of some of the best towns in Northern France.
The lounge is large and has views over both the back garden and grassed courtyard. Inside there is a wood burning stove, (great for those cold winter evenings!!), a dining table seating up to 12 people, 3 settees, a TV and DVD and an MP3 compatible CD/stereo. There is an arch leading into the kitchen/diner
The kitchen/diner comfortably seats 6 people at the table. It is equipped with a range of pots, pans and cutlery plus electric cooker, hob, microwave, dish washer and fridge freezer. We also have a laundry room with washing machine & separate tumble dryer at the rear of the house.
Used as a holiday house, there are 6 bedrooms. 3 with double beds, 1 with a bunk bed,(sleeps 2), 1 with 2 single beds and 1 with 3 single beds. There are 2 bathrooms with toilets, a shower room & a downstairs toilet.
Outside, the house has a cobblestone surround with a large garden to the rear running down to the river and a secluded grassed courtyard area within the two wings of the building. There is ample parking for 4 normal sized cars.
The rear garden has an unobtrusive light fence in open green wire mesh running along the river bank to prevent toddlers wandering too close. It is mainly laid to lawn with a few scattered trees and a small garden house in the bottom corner. Just outside the house overlooking the back garden down to the river is a patio area with a table and chairs.
In the courtyard area we have two more patios with tables, chairs and benches. There are BBQs available, although you will need to get charcoal for them.
There is Disabled access to the ground floor which has 3 bedrooms, (1 en-suite), bathroom, toilet & shower, all with reasonably wide doors and has virtually even flooring throughout. The front door step is about 6 inches high.
One of the great things to do in France is to eat out and in our region you are spoiled for choice. You may want to splash out on a Michelin starred restaurant such as the Auberge de le Grenouilliere in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil, Le Chateau or Le Jeraboam, (in the Hermitage Hotel), in Montreuil sur Mer or slightly further afield in Le Touquet, The Westminster or the Swiss House.
Alternatively you might prefer something more traditionally French such as L'Auberge de Cormont in Cormont, (10 mins away on the other side of the N1), which is set on a working farm, or Le Moulin in Bournonville, just outside of Devres:- very rustic and hefty portions!!
A few hundred yards from our front door is the Auberge d'Inxent, very friendly and welcomes children. They serve good food and have an exceptionally good wine list. A 15 minute walk along the road in the opposite direction is Beussent where you will find Ligniers. Here you can just pop in for a drink or sit down in their restaurant. On a sunny day it is lovely to sit in their garden with a drink & something to eat; try their ribs!!
Other than those mentioned here, there are many good places to eat and drink in the area ranging from small local cafes to elegant restaurants.
If the weather is fine, it is nice to eat at the house. As well as the kitchen there are BBQs in the garden. In Attin, next to Montreuil, there are supermarkets selling most things you may need. However, you could visit some of the markets, heaped with local produce, they are a pleasure to walk round.
Le Touquet is close by and is a bustling trendy town full of boutiques, bars and restaurants. There is a water park on the sea front for the children and fabulous beaches to wander along plus 2 casinos for anyone who might want to try their luck!.
The areas all around our holiday house & Montreuil sur Mer are perfect for either a gentle walk or a more vigorous hike over the hills or around the ramparts. Inxent is in the Vallee de la Course which in turn is part of the area Des Sept Vallees and the possibilities for the serious, (or not so serious!), walkers & explorers are almost endless.
Cyclists are also well catered for whether you want a gentle pedal along the valley road or a far more strenuous ride up & down the valley sides. You will very often see cycle rallies taking place right outside the front door.

If arriving at Dunkerque, Calaise or Coquelles simply follow the signs to the A16 and then drive along it, past Citi Europe, in the direction of Boulogne. (From Dunkerque the signs will first say Calais, then carry straight on to Boulogne).
Exit the A16 at junction 29, immediately before the Peage.
Follow the slip road down to the roundabout where you will see the signs to Montreuil and Abbeville.
Follow the the signs and pick up the "D901" in direction of Montreuil.
(If arriving in Boulogne port , follow dual carriage way to 2nd roundabout. Turn right, follow straight through commercial area to traffic lights. Get into left hand lane and follow to next roundabout where you will see Montreuil clearly marked).
As you leave Boulogne you will come to a roundabout. Stay to the left and take 2nd exit to Montreuil, (there is a right hand lane filter to Le Touquet).
Stay on the D901 straight through Hesdin l'Abbe and Samer.
After Samer the road starts to go up hill then gets steep and takes a sharp double bend, first to the left and then the right.
A little further on you will see a sign to Cormont on the right and a little further still is a sign on the left to Hucqueliers.
Start to slow down as the next small turning on the left is the D147 to Bernieulles and Beussent where you turn off.
Follow this road down the hill to Bernieulles where you can either go straight on or turn left, they both lead out onto same road.
(If you miss the D147 carry on half a mile or so and take the next on the left, again it will take you into Bernieulles. You then go straight across or turn right at Bernieulles).
The road ends at a T junction. Turn right to Inxent.
Beautiful house in idylic setting
We really loved your house, it is beautiful, very well equipped and very homely! You have thought of everything - there was nothing we needed or couldn't find! It must be hard for you to let, what appears to be a real home, out to strangers! Have you had it long and do you live there some of the time?
The weather was not kind to us and unfortunately I was not too well the whole time we were there (went down with a chest infection). But your lovely house made up for it, and just sitting in the cosy lounge with the log burner going did me the world of good!
We had two lovely meals at Auberge d'Inxent and they made us feel very welcome (many thanks for making the booking for us).
Thanks again for everything, I hope we will return one day!
Like a second home
This is the 2nd time we have visited your lovely house now. The children think of it as home to home and just love the area.
A fantastic holiday
Well I have to say ... what a fantastic place.
We have all had the best time ... and the weather to boot made it perfect.
My mother-in-law had the birthday she wanted.
What a beautiful house and the layout was perfect for the 12 we had staying.
The restaurant you suggested was delicious and really catered for us with the little ones.
All I can say is a big big thank you.
Kind Regards
Vanessa Perry
Delightful house & good fishing!
Steve,
Thank you very much for such wonderful accommodation, we had a great time. If you ever need anyone to recommend your house I would be pleased to do so. By the way we caught 2 trout, 1 roach and an eel at the end of the garden.
Once again thank you for such a delightful house
Alan
2nd visit
Our second visit to this lovely house in Inxent and again our holiday felt special due to the comfort and character of the house, the large secluded garden and very pretty village with good country walks just around the corner. A very special place to be and we thank the very caring and helpful owners for sharing their French home with us
A wonderful stay
I wanted to let you know what a great time we all had at Mon Desir. Such a wonderful house and everyone loved it. luckily the weather held for us apart from a bit of a downpour Saturday night during our barbeque and we spent most of the weekend in the garden. Thank you again. I think you will be getting a few more bookings from our party if that's ok?
A perfect break
We had a wonderful time in the farmhouse, everything was perfect for us all. The weather was kind and we spent a beautiful day on the beach on Thursday, even swimming in the sea, but boy was it cold! I particularly loved the little church in Inxent. The fact that it was always open and it was beautifully decorated with fruit & flowers. We all lit a candle and found it a very special place.
Stunning property for a perfect holiday
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your property, Mon Desir.
We found the property to be of a very high standard. Everything we needed for our stay was within the house making our holiday a very easy and enjoyable experience. The gardens were absolutely stunning and we found the evenings most relaxing by making full use of the patio areas and the barbeques. (With one or two bottles of red wine!)
The layout of the house was absolutely perfect for our situation. We found that the larger bedrooms downstairs were situated ideally to enable us to have our own space and privacy and the upstairs rooms accommodated the larger family group within our party. We are all in agreement that the rental fee represented excellent value for money and the added touch of Sky TV provided light entertainment when the weather was particularly bad.
We would like to thank you for the thorough and honest description of your property- all too often details can be somewhat exaggerated on holiday letting advertisements. We arrived at your house to have our expectations exceeded. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
