Description

This house has been beautifully restored and furnished to a very high standard though most of the original features have been retained including exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and an open fireplace. Babeau is a150 year old farm house in an ideal setting providing elegant gîte accommodation. The house is set on the outskirts of a small XII century hamlet located at the end of a quiet no through lane and is surrounded by vineyards and fields without any near neighbours offering beautiful far reaching views over the Dropt valley.

This house is set three miles from the XIII century bastide town of Monsegur (33) set around a market square which is host to a weekly market and also a weekly night market within the peak summer season. The stone vaulted market square is host to restaurants, cafés, bars, boulangerie, pharmacie, banks with atm's, pizzeria with weekly live music, good local supermarkets three miles away, weekly traditional French market and a night market during the summer. There are also many festivals and events going on throughout the region including the famous Jazz Festival which is Monségur 24 Heures du Swing that takes place every July it is an unforgettable weekend of jazz, wine and dance.

Also found a few kilometres away is the town of Duras perched on an escarpment above the river Dropt valley offering numerous wonderful local shops, bars and restaurants as well as the Château of the Ducs de Duras which is now a museum. The château hosts concerts and events including a wine fair in late July or August featuring the local appellation Les Côtes de Duras. This town also has a lively open air market every Monday mornings where locals sell fresh produce, fish, meats, baguettes and pastries, household goods and flowers. There is also the usual large French Hypermarkets at La Reole, Marmande and Langon which are all within 25 minutes drive.

There are also many historic sites and attractions to visit within the area for there are several Pay & Play golf courses, a popular lake side fresh water beach at about 30 minutes away, long sandy west coast beach great for surfing with just miles upon miles of sand providing excellent facilities and a visit to one of the many vineyards right at the doorstep as this is one of the largest wine producing areas of France. Other attractions available include karting, tracks, water parks and zoo which are all just an easy drive.

The entire house and all facilities are for the exclusive use of the guests during their stay. It includes the three lounge areas with plenty of separate terrace areas, a large garden and its own orchard, private swimming pool with a surrounding terrace looking out over vineyards and fields, table tennis, swings, slide and climbing frame. The house provides plenty of room for lots of fun by the pool or the play area with slide and swings.
