necessary Le Rocher is ideally situated for all the attractions Normandy and the Pays de Loire have to offer. The medieval town of Domfront is just 20 minutes away, as is Mayenne with all its shops and restaurants. Laval, the capital of Mayenne, is under an hour away, while the Normandy Landing beaches are less than 90 minutes by car. And your holiday would not be complete without a visit to the fabulous Mont St Michel and Concale, the oyster capital of France. Both again just a gentle drive away. Ambrieres is a mere ten minutes away and has two restaurants and a leisure park with open-air swimming pool and sailing. Gorron is the same distance away and has a newly-restored indoor swimming pool, bars, restaurants and supermarkets for all that lovely wine and cheese! Slightly closer to home, Couesmes has a little bar and shop for those last-minute essentials |

Lovely gite, lovely hosts!
We have just returned from the best French gite holiday we've ever had thanks to Fay and Mick. My partner and I took our 1 1/2 year old daughter over to France and we all had such a great time that for once we really didn't want to go home. The gite is French from the outside with the comfort of an English home on the inside. Ideal! Fay & Mick made sure that if we needed something, we had it, they made a real fuss of our daughter who had the best time with all that space to run around in, and loved the horses and dogs! The gite was very clean and the linen and towels smelt lovely (you can tell a great deal of care is taken!). It's lovely to be able to help yourself to fresh veg in the garden, and the soup we received when we arrived was really nice! We would and I'm sure, will, definitely return.
The cream of the Crop
Le Rocher was chosen at random. but didn't we do well? The property is exactly as shown in the photos, but what they can't show is the peace and tranquillity that go with it. The cottage was spotless and so well equipped as to be not so much a Gite, but a home from home. Faye and Mick are the perfect Hosts, attentive but not intrusive and after a long drive, Faye's welcoming soup and French bread certainly hit the right spot. The Garden is certainly one of the best we've seen and to have virtually the free run of it, was fabulous. We have already recommended this property to others and will certainly return ourselves. Couesmes-Vauce is a small, quiet, very clean village which is convenient for exploring lower Normandy, the Loire Valley and parts of Brittany. If one is into that sort of thing, Fougeres has the largest Medieval Castle in Europe and other Chateaux are all over the place. Mont St Michel and St Malo are easily accessible and well worth a visit."
