Simply Stunning
I can honestly say it is the first time I have ever stayed somewhere that was even better than the pictures I saw before I went, both me and my wife and an amazing time, the riad is amazing, the food was fantastic, and all the team where also fantastic, everyone made us feel completley welcome and really did look after us both and made us feel very comfortable indeed, not only will we stay again when we come to Marrakesh we have also and will continue to recommend the RIAD 02 to everyone we know.
Superb riad, homely, friendly and comfortable
We stayed at this riad for 6 nights. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, the food is excellent. All in all excellent value for money. Just one downside, I had asked for us to be collected from the airport and booked a meal for our first night but they failed to materialise. This could have soured our holiday but everything was perfect from there on. The riad house staff have no english so you do need to speak french but even if you only have a smattering you can get by. The drivers, as well as the manager, all speak excellent english will do all they can to help, from arranging trips to explaining how things work in Morrocco. I wish I could take this riad with me wherever I wished to stay in Morrocco.
Amazing !
We stayed at the Riad o2 at the beginning of Sept for 3 nights. I had read some reviews before we left and could not find a bad review of this Riad and now I know why! We organised for one of the drivers to pick us up at the airport (def recommend). When we arrived we were getting mint tea which was lovely then shown up to our room. The room was amazing, with our own small outdoor living area. Very spacious and clean. The staff were very helpful and the food at the Riad was lovely. we had dinner on the roof which was very romantic and peaceful. Food amazing! Breakfast every morning was also really nice.
on our 3rd day we booked one of the driver to take us into Essouria. This place is fantastic! Beach is lovely and i would especially recommend shopping here instead of Marrakech (alot more relaxed and definatley not as intimidating as the souks in the Medina) a lot cheaper too.
I would recommend while in Marrakech, not to follow anyone around who asks you if you want to find somewhere to eat etc. Everything is pretty easy to find on your own so don't get ripped off by a 'guide'. He took us to a run down restaurant, we sat on the roof and the food was really nice but they added and extra 200DH onto our already expensive bill because it was Ramadan!! Didn't find one other place that did this...don't be fooled!
Other than that we loved our stay and i definatley recommend Riad O2.
I WANT TO GO BACK RIGHT NOW!!!!
WOW! Trip to Marrakech was absolutly amazing! And Riad o2 is a beauty!! we booked the entire riad for a group of 14 of us.
Location- in the medina- highly reccomend staying in the old city to get the true feel of marrekech. This riad is located in the middle of the medina. Can be confusing but we were absolutly fine finding it when coming back home on our first trip out. So dont worry you wont really get lost.
Staff were extremly friendly and helpful- the manager Moad even drove one of our group out to the new city to get food back for the rest of us- not once but twice! Nothing is too much for the staff at the Riad. The chefs two women- both named Rachida- very friendly and smiley. One Rachida took the girls out one day!
Getting there- we arranged to be picked up at airport by two drivers- good value considering they dropped us off at the door, the drivers and Mohammed helped us in and then advised us on our excursion plans. Hicham the driver planned some excursions with us and arranged transport for our big group to the Atlas Mountains and Esouria.
Breakfast- amazing- stayed there for 6 nights- food in the morning was very filling- good for a long day out! bread, pancakes, cake, variety of jams and honey, mint tea- delish!!! (Hasan the night guard went out at 12 to get us some fresh mint to make tea for us- like i said nothing is too much!!), coffee, yogurt, fruit salad and thats just breakfast!
We had an evening meal one night- tagines- lamb and chicken, couscous, vegetables and bread- very tasty!
Terrace is amazing- you can see the Koutubia minaret from the terrace. Nice seating area, covered tent, great atmosphere when you come back to the riad after a long day out- twinkling candles, beautiful lanterns and the amazing splash pool with juccuzi.
Bedrooms- good sizes each with ensuite. fourteen of us stayed without feeling claustophobic- how can you with the open air courtyard?! Rooms get cleaned every morning by the Rachidas.
Bad points: Very few. Small issues: One of the rooms had a leaking air conditioning and another room had a weak system- but if you speak to the staff try and get them to fix things for you. One of the bathrooms was a bit dark but still manageble, another toilet-couldnt really close the door properly. Only the manager and Hicham can speak good english, but the other staff are still very accomodating and pretty much understand everything you try to say. Other then that I can't really think of anything else?
Attractions: bout a 10min walk to the main square (Dejmaa el Fna) and Koutuobia. Other souks very close by and Ben Yousef Madressa not far at all (walk through the souks and you'll find it). we took the vans to get to Majorelle gardens, Saadian tombs, (prayed Friday prayer at Casbah Masjid. walked it to the Badi Place. I would say if your good walkers and want to really soak up the atmosphere- then walk it to most places- the riad is in a pretty good location.
We took the big van out to Atlas Mountains, and the 3 hour drive out to the Esouria beach on the coast of Morroco- defo go there if you can and make a day of it on the beach and visiting the souks. Things seem alot cheaper there aswell.
Really found it that great!!! Would go back right now if i could, hope to again in the future.
Would reccomend booking the whole riad if your a big group- makes it feel like your own home so you can relax anywhere.
Book straight away!
Heaven on Earth....
We were met at the airport and hand delivered to our Riad door through narrow alleys and arches. So we extremely surprised when the riad door opened and we were met with our inner courtyard of delight. a tinkling water fountain and apple tea with biscuits, and a warm wlecome from our host.
Our rooms were absolutely beautiful and true to the website pictures. Very spacious. The only problem I had at all was that I was taller than the bathroom mirror and the bathroom lighting was a bit too soft for me.However I forgave all of that for the appeal that the room had as a whole.
We had dinner on the rooftop terrace three times during our stay, and each time the cook, Rachida, outdid herself. For the price it was outstanding, and I would have gladly paid more, alot more. A traditional Moroccan three course meal for 17 euros just on sunset, listening to evening call to prayer, on the rooftop terrace was unforgettable. Oh and when I say rooftop terrace, its an understatement. The night lighting and setting is very atmospheric if not romantic.
The riad has a few guides which they use. We used one in particular called Hicham. He was very good and we would rexcomend him to anyone. We hired him for a few days and went to the Ourika Valley, quadbiking, camel riding, shopping and a few other little things. His prices were fair and his knoweledge was extensive. After he got to know us a little he went off the beaten track sometimes and was on the button.
The hotel staff are extremely helpful but speak little English. We managed over 7 days to communicate through my bad French, their bad English and some phone calls to Hicham to interpret.
Coming back to the Riad after a day out or being hassled in the souks was like walking in to a little oasis of peace and quite. This place is great value for the money, I mean great.
Absolutely perfect stay at Riad 02 - stunning !
We had an absolutely perfect stay at Riad 02, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the place itself was just stunning, a wonderful and romantic place to relax after a busy, hot day in the Morroccan sun! The Terrace and splash pool were idyllic, the sound of the trickling fountain and the evening candles in the courtyard was soothing, and we we enjoyed the whole experience, which was totally unique, and like a dream!
Moad was extremely hospitable, he took us to see the England World cup match at the local bar, which was such an interesting experience for us, and a nice personal touch from him. We loved the beautiful design of the room, which was very comfortable and spacious.
I particularly admired all of the attention to detail you have put into the Riad, with so many nice small touches, decoration of the terrace, the shower, sunbeds, lanterns, candles, plants, cushions, - and really appreciated all of the fine finishing touches of the Riad's look.
Although we did not make use of the array of services you offered, (excusions, evening meal, driving service) it was nice to know it was an option.
Had a wonderful time, and will be recommending Riad 02 to all of my friends. One of the most unique and beautiful places I have stayed.
Thankyou!
Great Riad!
Myself and a friend stayed at the Riad in May on our first trip to Morocco. It was a great place to stay, with friendly service and great food. It was difficult to find our way around but that would go for anywhere in the medina as the streets are very confusing. We always had someone show us the way back though with no problems. We were welcomed with the traditional tea and treats/ Oh, and the beds were great as were the showers, which we later learned not to take for granted!
A touch of tranquility and pureness
very beautiful small riad. the rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. very helpful staff, especially rachida, the cooker. she will cook you dinner and serve you the food on the terrace - the highlight of the riad.
it was already the 3rd time in riad o2 - i will return there for sure next time staying in marrakech!
Architectural very succesfull renovated house
Everythink was nice and the people in your house very friendly.
We enjoyed our visit in your architectural very successful renovated beautiful house.
We have a very good memory about our visit and we are sure, that we will visit you in the future again.
A Perfect quiet haven
We loved our stay at Riad O2 - it was a perfect quiet haven in the middle of busy Marrakesh.
We didn't have the best of weather during our visit so we were at the riad quite a lot but we loved how peaceful and calm it was and how easy it was to just relax and unwind.
For a first time visitor to Marrakech the medina is difficult to navigate and a little overwhelming but Moad made the experience so much easier. He was very resourceful on a couple of occasions when we needed some help; very chamrming and accommodating and, as an added bonus for us, his English was excellent. He really made us feel welcome and well looked after.
We would definitely recommend Riad O2 to anyone who didn't mind being a bit outside of the centre of the medina and who can cope with how tranquil - almost monastic - the atmosphere is. It was perfect for us!
Thank you very much for our stay.
