As soon as you arrive the landscape dominates - set in rolling hills with a backdrop of the Sibilllini mountains this is a stunning location - "like living in a oil painting" as one of our guests commented. Il Vigneto is well away from other properties, facing south and west and in grounds of about 2/3 acre on a south-west facing slope.
Dating back to 1790 Il Vigneto was recently restored to a high standard with many orginal features including beams and antique terracotta tile floors. The main house is spacious, airy, centrally heated and well equipped for family holidays with many child friendly features.
Downstairs the entrance hall leads into a good-sized living room with wood burning stove and links to the dining area with a table for up to 12 and the kitchen with a separate walk-in pantry. French windows in the livingroom open onto the portico terrace which with a large family table and chairs is great for al fresco dining. A large shower room is accessed from the hall.
Upstairs a large landing with sofas and arm tub chairs provides a second living space, great for quiet relaxtion. Two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, all with double aspect lead off the landing together with the single bedroom and a large family shower room.
Tucked away to the side the Little Barn (avaialable at extra cost - see notes on the Rates Page - provides charming self contained accommodation with a double bedroom above (bedroom 5), galley kitchen dining and shower room downstairs. The Little Barn is only let with the main house and makes Il Vigneto particularly suitable for multiple family groups. Please note that the Little Barn is accessed up some steps and is not necessarily suitable for those with restricted mobility.
The large swimming pool located behind the main house and with gated access is a key feature. The pool is 7m by 14m and has an extensive shallow end with access via roman steps, excellent for young and old! With a large wisteria-clad pergola to provide shade when needed the pool is always a great place to enjoy the landscape. We have plenty of steamer chairs and sunloungers to encourage relaxation and help you soak up the sun.
Il Vigneto is set in extensive grounds including productive vines to the front of the main house. The grounds provide plenty of space to explore, relax and enjoy this very special place!

Il Vigneto is located on a country lane used by agricultural traffic. In summer the local sheep pass twice daily moving from farm to pasture and back. The lane is part of an extensive network which provides delightful local walks to suit everyone - you can find short and long circular routes to explore the landscape and local environment, and expect to see or hear plenty of wildlife, birds of prey, song birds, wild boar, deer, butterflies and much more. If you want to explorer further there are almost countless hill top villages and towns within short drive times. Gualdo at 3km is a charming working hill top village with two village supermarkets, green grocer, baker, butcher, petrol station, bank (with ATM), post office, cafe and a restaurant. Market day is on Tuesdays. Sarnano at 8 km has more shops cafes reaturants and a medieval core which hosts festival events and has a market on Thursday. The university town of Macerata, about 40 minutes away has more to offer with art galleries and the renowned Sferisterio open air opera auditorium, a delight to enjoy during the annual festival in July and August. Wherever you go you will find delightful villages rich in historic interest all set in stunningly beautiful landscape and always another place for coffee, lunch or dinner! - Penne San Giovani, San Ginesio, St Angelo in Pontano, Amandola, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo and so on. And within an hour's drive the adriatic coast is accessible, sandy beaches at Porto San Giorgio, shingle beaches at Porto Novo.
