This self-catering apartment is located in an attractive holiday villa on the edge of the quiet Greek seaside village of Amaliapolis about 7 mins walk from a sandy beach and the village centre. The apartment has been approved by EOT (Greek tourism ministry ) and has achieved a 3 key rating. The beautiful Greek village of Amaliapolis is much appreciated by Greek holiday makers but is off the beaten tourist track. As well as the village beach there are several other nice sandy beaches within easy driving distance and many archaeological sites.
The apartment is on the top floor of the villa and has one twin bedroom with air conditioning, an open plan living/ dining area with small double sofa bed for 2 and well equipped kitchen facilities. The living room has a ceiling fan. The bathroom has a full bath with shower attachment. Total living space of around 42m2. Several balconies help to make the most of the wonderful sun with views of the sea in the distance and the olive clad hillsides. As well as being able to sit out on these lovely balconies you are welcome to use the large, shady, enclosed garden where you will find seating and 2 barbecues and also ( new for 2010) childrens' play equipment. The villa contains 3 apartments in all and can sleep up to 12 people.
Amaliapolis itself is a picturesque seaside village situated on a large bay in the Pagasitic Gulf on the east coast of mainland Greece, 53km south of the lively university city of Volos from where Jason and the Argonauts set sail. It is roughly midway between Athens and Thessaloniki and so well situated for exploring mainland Greece, including the monasteries of Meteora, classical Delphi and other archaeological sites in Magnesia and beyond.
In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, three of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars. In short all you could require for a relaxing holiday.
There are flights to the new Volos Airport (at Nea Anchialos only 23km from Amaliapolis)March-October with Monarch Airlines, Air Berlin and Ryanair. Ryanair fly from Rome, Milan, Brussels-Charleroi and Frankfurt-Hann. The E75 motorway to Athens and Thessalonika is only 14 km. away. The village is surrounded by olive groves and framed by hills - ideal for a wonderfully relaxing Greek seaside holiday. Further inland lie the cotton growing plains of Thessaly. Across the Gulf lies the Pelion Peninsula with skiing in winter and beautiful beaches, mountain villages and spectacular scenery.

As well as the sandy village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive dotted around the west side of the Pagasitic Gulf. There are also delightful Greek mountain villages to explore with extensive forested areas for walking. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos with its famous sandy beaches from the village or the nearby seaside village of Achillion, depending on season. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos (where Mama Mia was filmed). The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views. |

The best of times
Arrived hot & tired to find a clean,spacious and cool apartment.The apartment was very clean and well equipped. (Bed linen and towels were changed during our stay) The villa is in a peaceful area surrounded by olive groves, plenty of parking spaces if needed. We enjoyed eating out on the balcony in the cool of the evening and mornings. Very few flies! An easy walk to a superb beach-we are keen swimmers and this was by far the safest and cleanest water we have ever been in.Amaliapolis village is beautiful -catering for holiday makers yet not at all 'touristy'
2 Beach bars both tastefully designed allow you to use sunbeds etc as long as you but a drink.At night the local tavernas on the sea front are typically greek and very accommodating.We found everyone so friendly even though our greek is extremely limited! There was a small supermarket and bakery all within walking distance.
We would highly recommend the villa for couples of all ages and it is also ideal for families. If you have a car you can travel further afield as we did and visit fascinating places such as Mount Olympus,the world heritage site at Meteora and Delphi or numerous archaeological sites. All these are listed in an information booklet in the apartment which was extremely useful and accurate.
After 2 glorious weeks our holiday had to end and we can honestly we had the best of times. A big thank you to the owner!

Just had to write to tell you what a wonderful, wonderful holiday we had in Amaliapolis.
As I mentioned previously, we have been to Greece five times before - to islands never the mainland - so we know that the Greek people are special. I have to say though that nothing, nothing, could have prepared us for the kindness and generosity shown to us by the people in the village, we were totally bowled over by it.
The apartment at Amaliapolis is very nice and I was surprised at how much accommodation we had, especially the lovely balconies.The village is very pretty and friendly. We loved the little cafe/bar just past the main square, with its wonderful view of the little church on the island... We really enjoyed our stay and feel that the accommodation is very good value and in a very convenient location. Thank you for such good communication and directions prior to the holiday it made our journey planning and arrival very easy and trouble free.
Schöne Lage
Wir hatten uns vorher keine Vorstellung von unserem Reiseziel und der Unterkunft gemacht. Umso mehr waren wir von beiden begeistert! Das Haus liegt am Ortsrand des Dorfes Amaliapolis, aber in fünf Minuten ist man zu Fuß am Strand oder im Café bzw. Restaurant. Am liebsten blieben wir unter den blühenden Olivenbäumen im großen Garten und genossen die Ruhe – keine Nachbarn. Die Wohnung – liebevoll, zweckmäßig und fast luxuriös eingerichtet - war auf unsere Ankunft perfekt vorbereitet und Handtücher und Bettwäsche wurden während unseres einwöchigen Aufenthalts noch einmal gewechselt.
Obwohl die Gegend von ausländischen Touristen noch nicht richtig entdeckt worden ist, ist sie leicht zu erreichen. Amaliapolis liegt verkehrsgünstig etwa 10km von der Autobahn Thessaloniki-Athen entfernt. Die Wegbeschreibung der Vermieterin führte uns ohne Probleme direkt zum Haus.
In der näheren Umgebung ist eine wunderschöne Bucht mit einem menschenleeren Sandstrand. Wir dachten, so etwas gibt es nicht mehr.
Für Tagesausflüge sind viele Ziele ganz bequem zu erreichen. Die Pilionhalbinsel mit ihren Bergdörfern und Wäldern lädt zur Wanderung ein, wenn man dort nicht unbedingt wieder zum Strand will. Delphi und Meteora sind auch nur ein paar Autostunden entfernt. Und in Volos und Larissa kann man gut shoppen.
