LES HOUCHES sits at 1000m above sea level and is the first big alpine settlement you’ll come to in the valley. It is a great family resort offering a wide range of summer outdoor sports and is quickly becoming a haven for mountain bikers. In the winter it is the perfect choice for a family holiday with the ski resort geared towards beginner and intermediate skiing. Les Houches has its own lift system for skiing, hiking and mountain biking. The village is also the starting point for many attempts to climb Mont Blanc. Les Houches has a different style of skiing to many of the other ski resorts of Chamonix. The wide pistes meander in and out of tree lined rolling hills that make it a perfect location for families or beginner to intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Les Houches’ slopes also provide great powder conditions and better visibility for the white-out days when the rest of Chamonix is in cloud. Often it is less crowded on a powder day and you will get more fresh tracks than on the Grand Montets (just be aware of the school holidays!). The large ski area links to St Gervais and covers a vast range of beginner and intermediate runs as well as the black run ‘la Verte des Houches’ that hosts the world renowned downhill competition Kandahar. New for the 2009/10 winter season was the introduction of Area 43 – the DC Winter Snow Park with huge table tops, gap jumps and rails. You can spot pro-riders getting big air and pulling off signature tricks or compete in some of the local and international competitions that are held throughout the season. There really is something for everyone here in Les Houches. If you are staying in Les Houches the daily ski bus runs regularly to and from Chamonix as well as other resorts throughout the day. CHAMONIX is probably best known as the skiing and alpine capital of the world. As a destination it has a reputation for the extreme and this, whilst undoubtedly true can mask a wide array of sporting and leisure activities, peace and quiet, great nightlife and superb scenery that can be enjoyed at whichever pace suits you. Chamonix is the perfect place to come for a weekend break or a week holiday. Chamonix is at the foot of Mt Blanc and offers sports like extreme skiing, climbing, high mountain hiking and mountain biking. This busy alpine village is extremely popular in the winter and summer seasons with tourists clambering for a glimpse of Mont Blanc. Chamonix town has all the facilities of a town; with a great variety of shops, restaurants and bars, cinema, museums, sports centre, ice-skating, tennis, squash, swimming pools and a very good 18 hole golf course. There are fabulous walking and running trails all over the valley, some are world famous and every year Chamonix hosts the ultimate 'Ultra Trail' covering over 154km in August. For hikers this trail is known as Le Tour du Mont Blanc (5+ day walking trip). The climbing is spectacular with the highlight being the annual Climbing World Championships in July. Mountain biking is very popular for both cross-country and down-hill disciplines and the golf course in Chamonix is of a very high standard with excellent facilities. During the summer the alpine rivers swell from the mountain snow and the white water activities really come into their own. CHAMONIX SKIING: The skiing in the Chamonix Valley is spread over 5 separate areas which are linked by a regular and efficient bus service included in the lift pass. At the base of the Valley is Les Houches. From the Chamonix centre Le Brévent which is linked to La Flégère. Up the Valley is Les Grands Montets in Argentière and finally Le Tour. Chamonix provides skiing for all abilities with nursery slopes at Les Planards, Les Chosalets as well as great ski schools at all the ski resorts. However, Chamonix is ideal for the intermediate and advanced skier. The intermediate runs boast excellent groomed pistes, trails and mogul fields. For the expert skier there is limitless off piste skiing and some of the steepest and most challenging runs in the Alps including the awe-inspiring 22km ski down the Vallée Blanche on the Mer de Glace with a mountain guide.

Guests will be met at the property and to receive a Welcome Pack.
Our recommendation is that you fly to Geneva airport it is only 50 miles to Chamonix and takes little more than an hour. You may choose to hire a car or arrange a transfer.
We are partnered with the best and most reliable transfer companies in Chamonix and are very happy to help arrange transfers directly from the airport to the apartment for you.
You may choose to travel by train or public bus from the airport although these means do not save you much money, the journey takes much longer and you still have to find your own way to the property once you reach Chamonix.
If you are driving, then from Calais the journey is around 550 miles and with minimal breaks the good motorways will see you in Chamonix in around 9 hours.
A representative of Chamserve will be available in Chamonix to answer any questions you may have regarding the accommodation, the resort, where to eat, etc. Also they will help you with any unfortunate emergencies that may arise personally or with your accommodation.
We are also able to help you pre-order and purchase ski lift passes, equipment hire, lessons and guides as well as arrange transfers for you.
On arrival you can choose from a "luxury" hamper to a "bare essentials". If you arrive late and want milk, bread etc on hand, again we can ensure this is in place when you arrive.
