Garden cottage and The Coach House set in wooded countryside at Fellside, in the Borrowdale valley, near Keswick. Derwent Water lies to the south of Keswick in the northern Lake District, and Fellside is situated at the western side of the lake at the foot of Catbells. The Borrowdale valley runs beside the lake and down to the Honister Pass which leads over to Buttermere.
It is a beautiful, scenic part of the Lake District, recently featured by Julia Bradbury in the BBC series Wainwright Walks, and named second in a SKY survey fronted by Sir David Attenborough to find the ten most beautiful locations in Britain. There is much to do in the area including walking, cycling and water sports in addition to many interesting places to visit. The popular village of Grange is 1 mile away with its well known bridge and riverside café. The market town of Keswick is approximately 15 minutes drive away and has plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants, and entertainment including a leisure pool, cinema and theatre.
Guests are able to enjoy the peaceful grounds in which the cottages are set and which are home to deer and red squirrels. There is direct access onto the fells making it perfect for walkers, and the lake shore is within easy walking distance.
Dogs are welcome to stay in our cottages.
The Coach House can accommodate up to 4 adults plus a travel cot/put you up bed in the double bedroom. Enjoy the stunning views of the Borrowdale Valley. The picture windows in the lounge and main bedrooms capture the southern end of the lake.
Garden Cottage can accommodate up to 4 adults. The middle cottage in a row of three is cosy and comfortable with an open fire and sunny patio. Make the most of the views and enjoy the tranquility of the Fellside gardens.

From the M6
Leave the motorway at junction 40, A66 Penrith. Follow the A66 west towards Workington and the west/north lakes, and proceed to Keswick.
At Keswick, take the second exit. Turn left at the T junction, then right at the 1st mini roundabout. Follow the signs for the B5289 towards Borrowdale out of the town centre, going straight on at the next roundabout then right at the following roundabout. After about 4 miles, turn right over the bridge into Grange. Follow the road through the village and continue along for about another ¾ mile. You will pass Manesty cottages on the left and then a caravan site on the right. Shortly afterwards on the left, you will see a wooden sign on a tree with the name 'Scalethorns' on. Turn sharp left into the driveway and Fellside is at the very top.
Option 2
Continue along the A66 after the turnings for Keswick. Take the next turning (left) signposted to Portinscale and Grange. Follow this road for approximately 3½ miles through Portinscale, past the Derwent Water Marina, then continue towards Grange. After Brackenburn Lodge on the right, you will see a wooden sign on a tree with the name 'Scalethorns' on. Turn right into the driveway and Fellside is at the very top.
The cottages can be seen on the right. Garden Cottage is the middle cottage and The Coach House is the one at the far end. Parking is on the gravelled area next to the cottages for The Coach House and in the half circle to the left of the driveway for Garden Cottage (by all means load/unload in front of the cottage).
