Oakbank Cottage provides stylish, spacious and supremely comfortable family accommodation in the beautiful Duddon Valley. An old post office & stores is within walking distance, and it's an easy drive to Lakeland's favourite attractions and to vast, sandy beaches.
The attractive little town of Broughton-in-Furness is just 10 minutes away, with two great food shops offering local produce. There are several old inns nearby for excellent meals out. There's loads for the family to see and do in the area, from golf and canoeing to an owl sanctuary and steam train ride. You're in the heart of the mountains here, with wonderful walks from the door.
Relax in the oak-beamed sitting room and enjoy roaring log fires, comfy sofas and piles of books and games, or chill out and watch Sky TV and DVDs. The stunning kitchen-breakfast room opens onto a walled garden, where you can sit and listen to the river rushing by.
The property has full central heating as well as the log-burning stove. Outside is a walled garden so is great for children and pets. There is a small shed behind the house where bikes can be stored. There are beautiful, vast, sandy beaches around 30 - 40 minutes drive away at Silecroft and St Bees, which has a beach cafe. here is a post office and stores selling newspapers and basics about ten minutes walk (with fantastic scenery!) from the cottage.
Broughton-in-Furness is a very attractive little market town about ten minutes drive away, with an excellent butcher/delicatessen, greengrocer/grocer and a very good home-made bread/cakes shop which is also a cafe. There is a bank too, as well as a couple of good pubs. There are several old inns within ten minutes drive serving very good food.
