Bitt Chapel House is a tastefully converted Wesleyan chapel. It has two bedrooms comfortably sleep five guests.
Bitt Chapel house, or just “Bitt”, is a tastefully converted Wesleyan chapel, set in an enclosed garden of a quarter of an acre, amongst farmland, just eight miles as the crow flies from Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain.
Lying in the quiet southwest corner of the Lake District National Park and less than two miles from your first sighting of Britain’s Favorite View, Bitt provides easy access to the West Cumbrian Coast, the high Lakeland fells and a variety of other well known, and some lesser known, Lakeland treats.
Despite its secluded location, Bitt is less than ten minutes drive from, and central to, the four villages of Nether Wasdale, Gosforth, Eskdale Green and Holmrook, which between them offer a village supermarket, a garage shop, a village store, several pubs and much, much more.
Slightly further afield there are Roman remains at both Ravenglass and at Hardknott, golfing at Seascale and valley walks at Blengdale and Eskdale.
There are two bedrooms, sleeping five altogether; one double bedded and the second with bunks and a single.
The beds are all equipped with duvets, and bed linen is included for full weeks bookings.
A cot is also available.
A good sized lounge with open fire, television and CD player. Farmhouse style dining kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Bathroom with WC and shower, and separate WC. Centrally heated. Ample parking for two cars, more at a squeeze.
Pets are welcome at Bitt, although we make a small charge, which is passed straight on to our maintenance team.
Bookings at Bitt run from Saturday to Saturday, but short breaks can be arranged during late autumn and winter. Weekly rates during 2011 range from £295 to £495 with no extra charges except for pets.
