The House
The stunning top floor features an open plan living and dining area, with amazing views up and down the Tarentaise valley across to the distant peaks of Mont Blanc. Balconies open off 2 sides of the house from picture windows. The airy living room has huge, squashy sofas, a log fire and an extensive library. Wifi, playstation, DVDs and CDs provide the modern entertainment.
The service
We are owner run, and dedicated to good service. Our food always attracts rave reviews from guests. Tea time (with cake) might include hot chocolates and mulled wine. Dinner time drinks include our house champagne cocktail, a local kir, the grolla, and genepi; and we also offer pre-dinner nibbles of some of the local specialities.
Children are always welcome, with early evening suppers and all the accroutrements of childhood from cots and high chairs to prams, sleds and even toys. And if you want to bring all three generations we offer a discount to over 65s too.
We pre-purchase your lift passes, arrange any ski lessons, and organise your ski hire for in chalet delivery and fitting. When you arrive, you have absolutely no queuing to do and we get you straight on to the slopes.
Our private minibus takes you the 3 minutes from the chalet door to the telecabine every morning - you decide what time! Call us from the slopes or a bar for a pick up and we'll be there to meet you.
Year Round Availability
We're open year round. In winter we offer catered ski holidays; in summer, self-catered, B&B or catered.
Situated at 1150 metres on one side of the Tarentaise Valley, we're in a great spot for winter and summer alike.
SKIING
We are right at the heart of Paradiski with over 400kms of pistes. Paradiski includes La Plagne and Les Arcs: we're on the La Plagne side, one chair lift away from the 200 person cable car the Vanoise Express which links up to Les Arcs.
There is skiing for all abilities on a great range of slopes: pretty tree-lined windy runs, wide open pistes, powder fields, snow parks, two glaciers, and slopes facing north, south east and west.
SUMMER
In summer there are miles of paths and trails to explore; the GR5 walking route goes right past the house and the entrance to the Vanoise National Park is on the doorstep. A cycle piste runs along the river, and challenging road routes lead into the mountains and over the cols. Mountain bike trails are aided in July and August by the lifts that take you and your bike up high.
The Savoie is at the heart of the Alps. Part of France, we also border Italy and until 1860 the Savoie was its own independent principality. The region is remote and beautiful, with high mountains and sparkling lakes, rivers and castles and villages.
MONTCHAVIN - LA PLAGNE - PARADISKI
We are in the heart of the Paradiski skiing domain: 400km of pistes, 2 equipped glaciers, and runs to suit all abilities. Our side of the valley, La Plagne, has over 224km of pistes and 10 resort villages: we are located at Montchavin.
Montchavin was originally a farming village and has charming cobbled streets, old stone buildings, and apple orchards. One chair lift takes you to the Vanoise Express cable car crossing the valley to Les Arcs: so guests can ski each side of the mountain easily. It's a wonderfully friendly place with some great restaurants and bars. Neighbouring Les Coches has an ice-skating rink
We look after beginners especially carefully: arranging lessons, with special ski pass deal, and ski hire, and we take you to your lessons, where you'll learn on green slopes amongst the trees.
Intermediates can enjoy the miles of blue and red runs, from tree lined tracks to sunny wide open spaces.
Experienced skiers can try the 2km black descent, or be guided off-piste down the Bellecote Glacier powder fields.
Plagne 1800 is home to the Olympic bobsleigh run: this is open to visitors for a memorable evening's fun.

Paradise stay in Paradiski Resort
We stay in different resorts every weekend during the ski season but this was the best so far.
Excellent location –right in the middle of 2 great ski resorts (Les Arcs & La Plagne), excellent service – even lamb haters loved the slowly roasted lamb served for a dinner, really nice tasty food, bottled wine (unlimited) served with dinner and after dinner :) & freshly baked cake for “après ski”.
Fantastic chalet holiday - one of the best yet!
e stayed here over New Year, as a group of eleven friends – and we all loved it! Liza, the owner, was very helpful from the time of booking, accommodating last minute changes and keeping us up to date with special offers on ski hire. The chalet hosts, Peter and Vera, were fantastic and the food they prepared was perfect to keep a hungry party happy (as was the included wine each evening)! Vera’s afternoon cakes were legendary, and Peter ferried us to and from the slopes in the private minibus, which was handy and convenient. The chalet is extremely cosy and full of character, with rooms of different sizes and styles, and the top floor, with its big comfy sofas and large dining table, has the most incredible views. You can sit on the sofa with a cup of tea and look all the way down the valley, it really is quite special. The non-skiers in our party kept themselves busy with the DVD library and the mountains of books. The village is rural and unspoilt in the best possible way – you can even hear the cows and pigs in the morning – it wouldn’t suit someone looking for pumping après-ski but it’s an ideal springboard to access the vast ski areas of both La Plagne and Les Arcs (you are literally between the two and the main ski pass covers both resorts) without having to stay in an ugly, purpose-built resort. We loved it – and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to a family or group of friends who want to ski, eat and relax!
