Slack View, is a stone built nineteenth century cottage. It’s attached to two cottages at the back, but has private well stocked garden with patio looking out towards the hills. Located in a small hamlet a mile from the seventeenth Century village of Dent, with its cobbled streets, shop, church and two pubs selling local 'Dent Brewery' beer and other 'real ales'. The cottage is very cozy, warmed by two multi fuel stoves and storage heaters downstairs, with electric radiators in bedrooms. A small garage has room for a small car and fuel. There is parking for one other car. This is a beautiful valley with plenty of local walks, but easy access to the lakes and local places of interest. A fine nine hole golf course at Sedbergh and eighteenth hole course nearby. This is an ideal country retreat for both couples and small families. Plenty of river walks and wading for children!
Dent Village shop provides basic provisions and fresh bread. There are newspapers which can be ordered. There is once weekly post office day. Two very good pubs also do 'pub food'. Two cafes provide excellent teas and snack meals. Sedbergh for very good butcher, greengrocer and baker and basic supermarket. Many book shops. Cafes. Kirby Lonsdale has Booths supermarket,(now owned by Waitrose) which is excellent. Also many varied shops and cafes.
Walking area is massive, with easy walks for very young and older, as well as good challenging peaks and hills to climb. Waterfalls, and many river walks for picnics and wading!
The Lakes are in easy reach. Back to the M6 and either head directly into the Southern Lakes area, or up the motor way and into Keswick.
Houses, castles and old market towns as well as the rail link to Carlisle and Settle going across spectacular viaducts.

A car is really essential, though the Settle to Carlisle rail line runs through the top of the valley. Dent station is the highest station in England! It is possible to travel by train and cycle, or Dent Taxi service could meet a train. Road travel from the M6 junction 37 to Sedbergh and then follow signs to Dent. Through the village taking a left fork at the 'George and Dragon'. 14 miles from the motorway turn off to the cottage.
