Villa Susanna is in the small peaceful resort of Kalkan. The villa was built in 2008 as a joint venture by two of Kalkan’s leading construction companies which means that the finish of the property is excellent. Kalkan boasts over 100 restaurants, some roof-top with stunning views, others located down by the harbour, with its colourful array of gulets and fishing boats. The villa is set in a quiet location but within easy reach of this attractive seaside town, with its old narrow cobbled streets lined with colourful boutiques and varied restaurants. There is a huge weekly market on a Thursday which is well worth a visit for your imitation watches, clothes and shoes, plus the chance to purchase some souveniers of locally made brightly coloured pottery, spices and of course, Turkish Delight!
The villa location offers some of the finest uninterrupted views of the bay. It is situated in one of the most beautiful, unspoilt locations along the Turquoise coast which has not been spoilt by mass tourism. If you have not been to Kalkan - this is a must!
Why not visit the nearby town of Kas, again this has little cobbled streets lined with pretty boutiques selling anything from carpets to handmade shoes and pottery, with their weekly market on a Friday.
There is also Lycia which is more famous for its enduring burial tombs that dots the coastline throughout the region. This site provides spectacular views of the Xanthos valley where the ruins of which are quite proximate to Kalkan and well worth a visit as well as the Taurus mountains and the other twenty major sites remaining today with a vast amount of unusual funerary architecture that makes for an excellent day trips. Also not far from Patara is Letoon which although not a Lycian city was its spiritual heart. Where the remains of the three temples each dedicated to one of their three deities take centre stage at the site. Kekova where the ancient sunken city can be seen is also well worth a trip plus the Saklikent Gorge which is the longest canyon in Turkey and the Green Lake that is emerald green with mountain nomads living on its shores, high in the Taurus Mountains.
There is an attractive pebble beach just ten to fifteen minutes walk away, Patara Beach which is a spectacular uncrowded beach about 18 kilometers long with Lycian ruins nearby, Kapitas Beach with its turquoise water and Fethiye is approximately an hour's drive away.
For those interested in more active pursuits there is a wide variety of activities including water-skiing, paragliding, scuba diving, jet-skiing, canoeing, trekking to name but a few.
This lovely, luxurious villa is arranged on three floors with beautiful stone walls surrounding the property giving a private, traditional feel looking out to sea across a large mature olive grove. It provides guests a spacious paved terrace with sun loungers and umbrella, a private pool with steps accessing the pool in one corner for those not able to stand plus an outside shower, an outdoor barbecue, a beautiful pergola with a large marble table and chairs under for peaceful relaxation.
