Description
This is not just a basic holiday rental. It is a home fully equipped by the Owners for their use too. So whether you are a couple looking for a retreat in country surroundings or a group of people this house can accomodate you and has a very welcoming feel. The stone built house has 3 terrace.s Dining tables are provided with sufficient chairs, parasols, and loungers. The Sunshine terrace can be used for breakfast and lunch, while a built in stone BBQ is provided on the west facing terrace for gorgeous sunsets during your evening meal. The private garden ideal for children to play in or adults to relax in and big enough to share.
On the ground floor, an additional bedroom and an accessible shower room with toilet are provided for people who cannot use stairs. Large open plan lounge is L shaped to accomodate the dining room and is light with access onto the garden through French doors. Plenty of seating for 8/10 people. The kitchen is fully equipped with sufficient eqiupment and utensils to make cooking a pleasure. There is a dining table too. The entrance hall is bright and airy with fabulous painting decorating the walls. From here you enter the kitchen, the lounge and the groundfloor shower room. An Oak staircase leads to the first floor. There there are 5 bedrooms, (3 double, 2 single) a large landing which houses a library of books and a place to read, a large bathroom with over bath shower and double sink unit, and separate toilet.
The groundfloor is tiled with original oak beams on the ceiling and featuring stone walls. The first floor is carpeted.
There is a are bar/restaurant in the village and others located in Jonzac 10 minutes drive away.There is a free tennis court and the driveway makes a great boule court. Jonzac, 7kms, has a magnificent indoor/outdoor swimming complex, with sauna, jacuzzis and fitness centre. Check out Les Antilles on the website. There is an outdoor leisure park with free lake swimming, boating lake, man-made beach, table tennis, picnic area, and children's play park.
There are also horse riding stables close by.
Meschers, Along this west coast has numerous beaches, all of which have cafes After Meschers, you have Saint Georges de Didonne which has a vast beach and alongside it is a lovely pine forest with picnic areas and a tree climbing area. Just north of Royan beach, the coast here turns into numerous very picturesque bays. Which then leads to St Palais Sur Mer, our favourite!
There are golf courses situated within a half a hour drive from the house in Cognac. Details can be obtained from Jonzac Tourist office. Drive from Calais is approximately 8 hours, while drive from Caen is approximately 6 hours. Do research on departure point, distance to drive, and prices. Ferries from Dover are much cheaper than Portsmouth.
Motorway tolls are approximately 35 euros, where there are lots of bed and breakfast hotels on the way if you want a leasurely drive. Bordeaux and La Rochelle (1hr) nearest airports, Poitiers 2 hours
