Despite being only a 10 min walk from theatres, cinemas, noted restaurants, bus and underground, stations, there is the illusion of being in the country. The street has little through traffic and there is a beautiful south-facing garden surrounded by trees.
The dining room, under an award winning soaring glass conservatory, opens onto the garden and to a fully equipped kitchen.
From the central hall is a double living room and a playroom. Original mouldings, shutters and fireplace remain. Above are two double and two single bedroom. Two bathrooms; one is ensuite with a Juliet balcony over the garden. Two additional WC's.
The area is called Barnsbury in Islington, close to the British Museum, University College, British Library, Almeida Theatre, Chapel Street Market and several bookstores and restaurants in lively Upper Street. The West End, City and Museums are all within ten to fifteen minutes by bus or cab. Our one- way street is quiet, leafy and safe.
For small children, there is a rocking horse, sand pit, Wendy house and tricycles. Older children can go to a nearby park with tennis courts, swimming pool and plenty of space for ball games. For adults, there is broadband access and a place to read the papers over coffee in the sun.
The house is usually available during the British School holidays: October, Christmas, and Easter as well as single weeks other times. In the summer, we offer a 6 weeks rental period during August and September At any of these times we would be happy to welcome a single person or a couple. Although there are more beds, the house is not large and adapts very well to one or two people.
We would hope that the house and garden would receive the care and consideration given to a home rather than a rental unit.

Best Holiday of our Lives
We chose to spend Christmas in London because two of our daughters are attending universities in Europe, one in Paris and the other in London. Thus, London seemed like a good place for the family to get together. We were fortunate enough to find the house in Islington and the owners were kind enough to invite my daughter who is in London over for tea. My daughter enjoyed the visit and reported that the house was perfect for our vacation. The house is located near King’s Cross and St. Pancras station so that it was easy to get to from Heathrow or by Eurostar from Paris.
From the moment we first saw the house we knew we had made the right decision. It is in a very quiet and charming neighborhood in Islington. The house appeared warm and inviting. Inside it was clean and well decorated with a cozy living room with a working fireplace, modern kitchen, two full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, a family room and a very pleasant sun room that looks out onto a surprisingly large garden. We found it was very nice to come “home” and sit by the fire after a long day of touring London rather than going back to a hotel room.
Islington has a large number of great pubs and restaurants, theaters and antique stores. It also has a fun open air market where you can get the world’s best hamburger. My favorite is the spicy bacon cheeseburger; it is a cardiologist’s nightmare, but well worth the experience. We spent most of Christmas Eve shopping for Christmas dinner in the market, supplemented with a visit to the two local grocery stores. Everything was a short walk away from the house. The house’s modern kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. Our Christmas dinner was excellent, except for the Christmas pudding we bought from Harrods. I guess that is either an acquired taste or a joke Londoner’s play on tourists. We purchased 7 day unlimited travel Oyster cards and took the double decker buses or the tube all over London. Since the house was located near a tube/bus station commuting to anywhere in London was very easy. The buses were fun because you can ride on the top deck and see all of the sights. We often took a bus just for the views. Overall, we had the best holiday of our lives and found the owners to be very helpful and friendly in helping us setup our London holiday. They even purchased and decorated a Christmas tree for us! We highly recommend staying at this wonderful house in Islington.
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for sharing your house with us. We had a great time in London and the house was a perfect location to walk to the Highbury Isington tube stop. We had a nice visit to the Tate, went to the British Museum, and caught a matinee of Billy Elliot and the next day went to Kew Gardens All in all, we had a delightful week. We look forward to staying in your house again if it is available on another trip.
Lovely relaxing house
Thank you for the use of your lovely house – we had a very nice time just relaxing and soaking up the ambience. The sunny kitchen / dining room was our favourite spot to have tea and spend the mornings gazing in the garden.
Quiet neighbourhood
Thank you so much for your kind hospitality on our arrival in London. We had a wonderful visit here, and very much enjoyed your lovely home. The beautiful garden and the quiet neighbourhood all made for a very enjoyable experience.
Owners so helpful
We stayed in this wonderful house last February. The owners were so helpful prior to our visit. It was convenient to the tube and a delightful neighborhood to walk around. We would definitely consider renting it again
