We very much enjoyed our stay at this home in Plum
We very much enjoyed our stay at this home in Plumstead. It is a roomy 3 bedroom home with a backyard. It has a washer and dishwasher and gas stove.
The decor is very nice. The home was very clean and the owner was very helpful giving us lots of instructions via email before we arrived. It is only a few blocks from a bus stop at the bottom of the hill where there is an excellent pub with an outdoor garden. Further down the street are good Chinese and Indian restaurants and markets.
Clean, very well priced house and great facilities
We stayed in this house during August 2010, 6 adults. The house was very clean and tidy and had all the facilities we required. Shops are close by for essentials and the bus also just a short walk away. Free on street parking was helpful for the days we rented a car and explored outside London.
I would definitely recommend the house to friends and family.
Exactly what we needed
My roller derby team was in London playing a tournament at the ExCel London Center (only a 20 minute commute by National Rail + DLR). After much searching, we found this house and I'm very glad we did.
The owner is very kind and was patient enough to answer all of my millions of questions during the booking process. Everything that she set forth in the booking agreement was exactly how the house was; the beds were clean and comfortable, towels were available, the house was clean and the check out was easy as well.
The house is fairly removed from London's city center - about 20 - 30 minutes by National Rail to the London Bridge Underground, but the public transport is very easy to navigate.
Overall if my travels bring me back to London, I would definitely try to rent this house again.
Plumstead House
The house was great. Jih Weh was amazing. This was my first international rental and she very patiently answered all my questions and concerns. The house is huge per London standards and very comfortable and clean. My guests and I were really pleased. I will mentioned if you are geographically challenged as I am, that it is about an hour walk to the tube station and half an hour to the train station. However, there are loads of buses that run all the time. I will definitely keep it in mind for my next trip to London.
Serviceminded homeowner!
Thanks Jih-Wen for answering my questions, I had a few! It was very comforting to know that you helped us out when we needed it.
We chose the house mainly because of the posivite reviews, as we were not used to booking through the "homeaway" website. We were pleasantly surprised and everything worked out very well. The house was quite compact for our family of 8, but it was clean, tidy and had everything we needed, perfect for us. We had breakfast outside every day!
The house is located on a calm street, there is hardly any traffic there at daytime. Down the road is Plumsted town, a busier road where the busses leave to Plumsted railstation. The town is quite worn down, and somewhat littered.
The public transportation worked very well, we bought a weekly pass, it worked perfectly! The trip to central London takes at least 30 min, so plan the day well before leaving. I recommend a daytrip to nearby Greenwich.
I strongly recommend this property. It was an affordable alternative, it was clean and it was very well equipped. The owner was very serviceminded and helped us in any way she could. The fact that we were 8 people made it essential that the logistic had to work flawlessly, and it did! Very well!
Home for our stuff
We are a german company with a building site in London. So we needed a accomodation for our stuff for about 5 months.
The communication was the best we ever had with a renter. Thank you very much. We got a lot information before arriving and Jih-Wen was always there, when we had a question or we needed to lengthen or there was a break of the building site or or or.
We can only advise you to take this accomodation in London.
Well equipped house in South East London
The house of Yih Wen and David in Plumstead, South East London has got enough space for 6 persons (3 sleeping rooms!), a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room. It is easy to travel to London Centre in about half an hour by bus/train and possibly subway (from Cannon street or Charing Cross).
In Plumstead it is easy going out eating in a restaurant or buying food in one of the food stores/supermarkets.
It is superb, that from the house you can reach parks, woods or heaths on foot. The paths are connected by the London "Green chain walk", which is well marked.
For our family with four children (5-12 years old) it was a optimal place to stay. In case of visiting London again we shall rent this beautiful house again.
Well equipped Home with Good links to London
This house is surprisingly spacious. It has a very well equipped kitchen and large bedrooms. The owners were very accommodating and reasonably flexible. Plumstead is not the nicest town to visit however the home is on the outskirts of the town and seemed quiet and safe. There are good transport links to London City Centre via the train station, - book your tickets in advance and it costs next to nothing. Would recommend you book taxi to meet you at station particularly at night. We had a great time staying here and would definately come back.
Opinion about Plumstead House
We had a great time in this house. It was clean, big enough for the 7 of us and in a very quiet area. The flat is well furnished, with a nice back garden and even nice foxes coming to visit sometimes! It was so cute... Moreover, the house is very close to the bus stop (which allows you to travel using London transport ,Bus, DLR, underground and even train station) and commodities, like pharmacy, petrol station, supermarket and everything you need. So if you need a quiet and comfortable place to live in London for a while, I advise you this one!
dirty, filthy, rundown flat in bad area.
On arrival to the flat we found it to be very dirty, the worst aspect of this was in the triple bedroom the bin had urine in it, which was disgusting. Also the whole flat looked like it hadn't had a good clean in a long time.
There were spiders and cobwebs on the wall, behind the bathroom sink was filthy, there was an old shampoo bottle with layers of dust on it, that must have been there for a long time, the backs of all the doors were also really dirty and sticky. The light shades in the kitchen were thick with layers of dirt also. The bedroom floor also had dirt on it, so it obviously hadn't been cleaned since the last guests, nor had the bins been emptied as there was rubbish in them when we arrived.
The BBQ in the garden was filled with cigarette ends which made the garden smell really bad, so we were unable to sit outside.
We then tried to contact the owner, only to find they were out of the country and we had no contact details for anyone else, so goodness knows what we would have done if there was an emergency or any other problems with the flat.
We also felt the flat wasn't in great condition, there was paper peeling off the walls and paint flaking off the walls due to dampness in the triple room.
We have taken photographs of everything.
On return the owner has turned nasty and blaming us for the mess since we have complained! We couldn't have created that level of dirt unless we had stayed for a year!
Filthy, stay away from this flat. It is also in a very unpleasant area and not in Greenwich as stated.
Not worth the money! I would not recommend to my worst enemy!!
