Description

The house is set on the hillside beneath the Munterley Plateau of the renowned Gerolstein Dolomits in a prime residential area 400 metres from the main line station and 600 meters from the town centre. It enjoys commanding and stunning views across the valley and town to the mountains beyond. The house is a large semi-detached property on three levels recently acquired and re-furbished with the majority of rooms south facing. Apartment Charlie is on the upper floor as is the optional additional luxury guest double bedroom. All accommodation is officially four star accredited with English TV. The ground floor apartment is now the home of the resident owner Gisela and her English husband, Alan who moved to Gerolstein from Telford after raising their family in England. The move is a realized retirement ambition to live in a renowned health resort in an area of outstanding beauty.

The accommodation is not suitable for persons with difficulty in climbing stairs.

There is also sizeable patio space with appropriate furniture for the exclusive use of all of the occupants of the house and their guests. The pavilion and a barbecue are available to guests.

There are many numerous lakes in the region many of which offer safe bathing and water sports. At Kronenburg sixteen miles a strand has been laid gently sloping into the water and is particularly attractive for young families. There are playground and other facilities that make this location a day out. At Schalkenmehren fifteen miles or a thirty minutes drive there are controlled bathing facilities at the crater lake.

Golf Club Eifel is eleven kilometers away and is less than fifteen minutes away in Hillesheim. Situated 490 meters above sea level in the picturesque Eifel countryside, the club offers its 700 members and guests an 18-hole golfing experience. If guests want fresh air, a beautiful landscape and that holiday feeling away from the stress of the 'Big City', this is the place for them. This Championship Course with its superbly maintained fairways and greens is a challenge for every player from scratch golfer to beginner. The club had the honor of hosting the German Amateur Championship in 1995. It is simply the best.

There are five winter skiing resorts in the Eifel all within fifty-five minutes drive. The nearest two resorts are close to the towns of Daun and Prüm both a twenty minutes drive and each with two ski centers. Daun has a small downhill skiing centre, the "Mäuseberg" and the "Cross-country skiing centre Ernstberg”. More information on these two centers is expected to be made available by end November 2009. Prüm has two skiing and cross country centers at Wolfsschlucht twenty-five minutes drive and at Schwartzer Mann thirty-five minutes drive. Both of these centers have ski lifts, ski hire, small ski schools and restaurant/cafe facilities. Whilst these centers are small and commercially undeveloped when compared with well known alpine skiing centers they are ideal for family skiing and fun. There are no real snowboarding serious facilities but there are slopes suitable for children and beginners. Toboggan hire, toboggan lift and hiter at Schwartzer Mann.

Special interest holidays include motor sport with the Nurburgring with its new £225 million motor sport indoor theme park for enthusiasts including leisure facilities for the family and the fastest roller coaster in the world. Its 6000 seat event arena and its 300 meter boulevard is now complete and open 365 days a year. As a tourist guests can also drive, ride or take a BMW M5 at racing speed around the "Ring" thirteen miles and at least seventy-three bends add up to what even top racing drivers describe as the most demanding circuit in the world. Only 20 miles away and a must visit. There is also the Spa-Francorchamps which is one of the world’s most fascinating circuits. The property is less than a sixty minutes drive from Spa. International Steam Train Festival is also on offer within the area with over 200 Locomotives centered in Gerolstein, Trier and Koblenz.
