Llanfor formally an 18thc Methodist Chapel has been converted to retain many of the original features. The Chapel is located in the fishing village of Lower Town at the mouth of the River Gwaun, just below the town of Fishguard. The Village is well known from the films of 'Under Milk Wood' and 'Moby Dick'. It is a haven for sailing and fishing boats. The Chapel is on the Coastal Path within the National Park with many wonderful beaches, ideal for bucket and spade holidays and for surfing. The Chapel consists of three bedrooms each with en-suit bathroom/shower room. It has a large first floor consisting of sitting room, dining area & kitchen, and a small utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher etc. There are two balconies over looking the bay. Within 10 miles of the Chapel there is golf, riding, fine selection of beaches, and many walks where you can enjoy the view and the countryside.
Llanfor is one mile north of Fishguard, on the road to Cardigan, (A 487) leaving Fishguard travel down the hill to Lower Town, follow the road round to the left, and take the left hand folk into Quay Street, parking is the first left behind the Chapel. The front door in on Quay Street.
Sport and Shopping: There are two tennis courts in the near by Dinas village. Newport Golf Club has a 9 hole course with glorious views overlooking the sea, there is also a 18 hole golf course in Haverfordwest. The local yacht clubs can be found in Lower Town and Newport bay, both are great for canoeing, windsurfing and sailing, both clubs offer holiday membership. Shopping, Fishguard: can be reached by car, or a 15 minute walk, and has a range of shops including a Spar supermarket, greengrocers, butchers bakers, Market day is THURSDAY and is held in the Town Hall in Fishguard. There are 2 banks:- HSBC and Barclays. Tesco can be found in either Haverfordwest or Cardigan aprox 30 minutes drive. For a special meal out try Ccapan Restaurant in Newport, which is recommended by Egon Ronay, there is also 'The plaice' in the Square in Fishguard,- first class fish dishes, there are also many other restaurants in the area. .
Coastal Path and National Park: Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Predominantly coastal, the Park has some of the most beautiful coastline in the UK, Offshore islands, the largest of which is Skomer which is Internationally known for the sea birds and seal populations, the waters around Skomer are one of only two Marine Nature Reserves in the British Isles. The other islands are Skokholm, Ramsey, Grasholm and Caldey,which are all worth a visit and are also full of bird life. The Coastal path covers high cliffs, to long sandy beaches, harbours, dunes and mud flats. In contrast the Gwaun Valley is a delightful area for walking beside the river, which rises, in the Preseli Hills, from where you get amazing views of the coastline. There are also many wonderful walks in the Preseli Hills. Fishguard is a Welsh speaking area, but you will have no problems being understood. There is a Tourist office situated on the square in Fishguard, where you will be able to find out about the best beaches, walks etc.
Seasons: Come to Pembrokeshire in the Spring, the carpet of wild flowers will amaze you, around Strumble Head, also in the hills around Newport. Spring/Summer: you can spend hours watching birds from Puffins to Peregrins and most sea birds in between. Autumn: Beneath the cliffs there are a number of inaccessible beaches were seals give birth to their pups in the autumn months. The Chapel therefore is an ideal base for bird watching, walking, sailing, canoeing, or simply relaxing and enjoying the scenery and beautiful beaches. Do not forget your camera, Pembrokeshire has the most photogenic coastline, and is also a haven for artists.
Golf: There are several golf courses within the area, 18 hole at Haverfordwest, parkland courses, Resturant, pro shop buggy hire -pay and play Newport Sands links 9 hole 18 tee links course overlooking Newport Bay, Resturant, Bar, Pro-shop Pay & Play Priskilly Castle Morris, Letterston 9 hole, Shop tean room and Bar, pay and play St David's a 9 hole 18 tee course overlooking Whitesands Bay, clubhouse, Tea and Coffee shop.
Other Activities: There is a play ground in the village for the young children.
