Description

This holiday apartment is in the peaceful all year resort of Kapparis, yet near enough to Protaras and Agia Napa should guests wish to avail some excitement. It is elegantly furnished and offers open-plan living accommodation throughout. Blue sky comfortably sleeps six. It has a master bed, twin bed and double sofa bed. It is tucked away in the quiet Mythical Sands resort. Both bedrooms have full length fitted wardrobes and bedside cabinets. The apartment has air conditioning throughout for guests comfort.

As it is an easily accessible ground floor apartment, it comes perfect for families, plus the elderly or infirm. Splash in the lovely family shared pool which has toilets, shower and changing rooms. Sun loungers and parasols are provided and the pool is for residents of the resort only.

Unlike Pernera and Protaras which are very quiet and closed during the off peak seasons, Kapparis is open all year.The supermarket, fruit shop, bakery and other shops are a mere 100m from the flat. Relax at nearby Fireman’s beach and catch a glimpse of Varosha, the ‘ghost town’ abandoned and uninhabited since the 1974 Turkish military invasion. You can enjoy many watersports at unspoilt Kapparis bay including parasailing, jet skiing, water skiing and wakeboarding, and hire a speed boat/kayak/pedalo or even charter your own luxury yatch! A small local zoo and viewpoint are worth visiting.

Paralimni, the largest town in the area and only a 5 min drive away, is pleasant with a wide assortment of shops (shopper's paradise - I bought some fanastic handbags and shoes for a bargain!), restaurants, bars and cafes. Three churches dominate the centre of the town and Panayia church houses an interesting ecclesiastical museum. Dine at one of the cafes around the town square which has an open air theatre, attractive gardens, a playground and fountains. Our son threw and painted his own pot at the local pottery.

10 min to the south is Protaras, boasting a fabulous selection of blue flag beaches including Fig Tree Bay. It is family orientated but also suited to couples and there are a huge number of leisure activities including snorkelling, paragliding, and scuba diving to please all holiday makers. Children will love the "Yellow Submarine" and the "Glass Bottomed Boat" and the "Amazing Magic Dancing Waters" - a fantastic spectacle of fountain power, sound and light with its own erupting volcano. Dining out is a fabulous experience with all kinds of local and international cuisine. The quaint domed church of Profitis Elias, floodlit at night, is perched precariously on the top of a hill overlooking the town.

On the northern outskirts of Protaras, Pernera is a small coastal resort popular with couples and families seeking a holiday destination away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist resorts. It has a small but active harbour from where boat trips can be taken.

The rocky coast of Cape Greko further down has a number of walking trails and its idyllic clear waters are a perfect retreat for snorkelers or swimmers who want to avoid the busy beaches. Known for it's exciting opportunities for water sports, cliff diving and historic lighthouse, a trip to this pristine location is a must.

Other than its white sandy beaches with turquoise waters and beach events, Ayia Napa is also very popular for its amazing night life with plenty of night clubs and bars to choose from. Here also is Water World, the biggest water theme park in Europe. There are day cruises and boat tours you and your family can embark on and a visit to the stunning sea caves is always a treat. An international golf course is being constructed in Agia Napa but in the meantime enjoy a round at the golf course in Larnaca.

Take part in the Carnival, a two-week period of celebrations before Lent. Green Monday is celebrated with picnics, outdoor fun and music and dancing. Easter is celebrated with evening church services throughout the Holy Week, a procession of decorated Sepulchres on Good Friday in all parishes and traditional games on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Annual events in the region include the Ayia Napa Cultural Winter with free concerts, recitals and dance performances and Kataklysmos at seaside towns with swimming, canoe race, wrestling and singing competitions. Directions

Many budget airlines fly to Larnaca airport. This is the nearest airport and it is about a 45min drive to Kapparis. Cheap flights are available from the following flight companies

Monarch, Thomas Cook and Thomson have flights to Larnaca only in the holiday season from April to October.

Cyprus Airways and British Airways also fly scheduled (usually more expensive) flights to Larnaca.
Aegean Air have recently started flying to Cyprus.

You can also fly to Paphos which is a 2 hour drive which is pleasant with clear roads.
There are buses from Larnaca to Kapparis or Paralimni but these are very infrequent.
Airport transfers are available. Please contact us if required. They are approximately €50 per car payable to the driver.

There are several car rental companies at the Airport and in Kapparis (you will find information in the info pack in apartment) and you need your driving license with you and some form of photo ID (passport is fine) to hire a car. Prices start at around €25 per day and if you don't have Europe insurance at home, then this is extra.

Driving is on the left hand side and is very straightforward on the A3 all the way to Paralimni and then 5 min from there to Kapparis.
