The cottage looks out on Scafell, England’s highest mountain, and you can walk from the cottage to Devoke Water, a mysterious mountain lake. Relax by a roaring log fire with a good book or Sky TV, or sit outside and drink in the stunning mountain views. You're a world away from tourists and crowds, yet the Lake District’s favourite destinations are all within easy reach.

Deposit of one third to confirm the booking, with the balance not later than six weeks before your break. A refundable damages deposit of £100 is also required. If the cottage is booked six weeks or less from the start of your holiday we will require the full price, plus £100 refundable damages deposit. All payments to be by bank transfer to a designated account.

As well as a large farmhouse kitchen there is a laundry room with washing machine and large clothes dryer. In addition there are two sitting rooms - a cosy double aspect sitting room (sits ten at a pinch!) with open log fire, and a second, double aspect sitting room with big glass doors onto the patio and a sofa bed. necessary , High Ground Cottage is a five minute drive from Ulpha Post Office and Stores. Eskdale Post Office/Stores and George IV pub are ten minutes drive. Broughton-in-Furness is a lovely little market town just fifteen minutes drive away which has terrific food shops selling local produce as well as good food pubs and cafes. St Bees vast sandy beach and beach café and Silecroft beach are both within easy reach. Muncaster Castle with its Owl Sanctuary and Gardens are nearby as is the L’il Ratty single gauge steam railway from Eskdale to Ravenglass on the coast. The magnificent Hard Knott Pass with its Roman Fort is an easy drive. Ambleside, Coniston, Grasmere, Windermere from 30 to 45 minutes drive. Golf, riding, boat trips, cycle hire, walking, outdoor pursuits, fishing all available nearby. |
