The kitchen gives access to a great sized utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink and ample units and another door takes you to the Snooker Room.
Edinburgh is just 10 mins by car, here you can find fabulous shops including Harvey Nichols, Jenners, Louis Vuitton, Armani etc, the castle can be visited all year round as can many other tourist attractions.
The area is ideally situated for touring the stunning Scottish Borders as well as the Highlands, There are plenty of activities to be found from cycling, horse riding, skiing, golf, swimming, spas, shopping, fishing, hill walking and much more.
We have many first class restaurants in the area, including the award wining Cringletie House Hotel, Howgate Restaurants & Castle Venlaw
Penicuik is a lovely historic town 5 miles outside Edinburgh. The house is just 5 minutes walk from the town centre which has a Tesco supermarket, restaurants, pubs, shops, post office, petrol station, hairdressers, indoor children's play centre & laser quest, a newly completed 10 million pound swimming pool/health centre which has a fitness suite, health suite, library, computer suite & large games hall. The house has lovely views over two parks one of which has a children's play area and basketball court, the other is used for rugby, football and archery.
Regular buses take you to Edinburgh in about 35 mins, as Penicuik is on the outskirts of the Scottish Borders you can visit the beautiful town of Peebles, go fishing, hill walking or wind surfing on Saint Marys Loch .
The house is situated 4 miles from the infamous Roslin Chapel where you can attend a Da Vinci Tour or stroll around at your leisure.

Amazing, property! taste of luxury...
We stayed at the Retreat in December 2011, the house was warm when we arrived, which was lovely at that time of year, it is a big house with plenty of space for everyone - there were 14 of us - however the house could've comfortably taken more. It was clean and fresh with lots of extras, eg books, kids toys, cds/dvd wifi etc. we really liked the security of private electric gates and the hot tub which was brilliant when it was so cold outside - this made our holiday. All the furniture etc is really good quality eg jacuzzi baths etc, we couldve done with one more high chair as there was only 2 but everything else was great for the young ones./
Great location only 15 -20minutes from the city Centre, would highly recommend the Christmas Market in Princes Street and the Craigiebeild Bistro which is only a few mins walk from house. All in all, fab house, excellent holiday!
Beautiful House - good Location near Edinburgh
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Retreat, This house is simply beautiful, very spacious and well laid out - we were 3 familys and it was nice to have the space. the hot tub was fabulous - especially at night .
Penicuik is a lovely town, we lovesd the Craigiebeidl bistro/bar with the kids play area, and edinburgh was only 25 mins on the bus or 15 mins by car.
The hosue was exceptionally clean and warm when we arrived. Caroline, the house manager came to see us and she was very helpful and friendly
We will certainly be back!
