Description

Wintonhill has an imposing location overlooking the Lammermuir and Pentland Hills. It is available on a flexible basis as self-catering accommodation by the week, weekend or weekdays. Meals can be arranged for any occasion, and Wintonhill Farmhouse is perfect for entertaining with a sitting room (with open fire) and a dining room, as well as a games room.

Visitors are met and greeted by a member of the Winton team and are provided with a welcome pack with recommendations on local activities, restaurants and places to see.

There are extensive gardens with plenty of parking space, a patio, barbeque area and a walled orchard, ideal for football! You can even work on your golf swing in the practice bunker.

The Farmhouse has broadband wi fi, ideal for those who still need to contact the office, or for the kids to plug into on a rainy day.

The provision of all bed linen, towels and bath robes is included in the rent. If necessary, additional foldaway beds,linen/towels can be supplied for a fee. We can also supply children's high chairs and a cot (please notify us in advance). Dogs are welcome but not in the house. Cover is provided next to the Farmhouse.

Directions

Winton House lies close to the village of Pencaitland in East Lothian, 14 miles south-east of the centre of Edinburgh and close to the A1 and central Scotland's motorway network. In the days of little motor traffic, it was possible to hear the one o'clock gun from Edinburgh Castle! Today's visitors can be in the city centre in less than thirty minutes.



Driving directions

To ensure you find Winton House easily, please print the directions along with the printable version of the Google map at the bottom of this page. (Please be aware that if you put 'Winton House' into Google as a search term, it shows Winton House in the WRONG location, within the village of Pencaitland on its south-west side).

From Edinburgh, the North and West:

Follow City By-pass (A720) to the A1 (south). Turn off at Tranent. Follow the road through Tranent (pass the kids’ playpark), then turn left on the outskirts of Tranent along the B6355 towards Pencaitland. Follow the road through New Winton. You will see the north entrance to Winton House on the right on a sharp corner.

Please note that all coaches, lorries and commercial vehicles should continue along the road for about 800m to the coach entrance (east entrance) on the right.
Visitors heading to Wintonhill Farmhouse should continue past the north entrance for about 400m, then Wintonhill is next on the left.

Visitors heading to Winton Cottage should turn down the coach entrance (east entrance) then take the first turning on the right.

From the South and East:

Pencaitland is signposted from Haddington, the A1 and the A68. Winton House is just off the north east side of Pencaitland. Cars can turn left into the south entrance for Winton House just before the outskirts of the village. Coaches should continue to the outskirts of Pencaitland, turn left onto the B6355 towards Tranent, then turn left into the coach entrance (east entrance).
