GORTON HOUSE, c.1670, occupies a charming position above the spectacular nature reserve of Roslin Glen. From the extensive grounds and gardens all guests in the holiday cottages and holiday houses can partake of the fine views of the Pentland Hills and the picturesque Rosslyn Chapel which is on the opposite side of the valley.
WEST, MID, and EAST are all self contained holiday houses, but communicating doors allow this property to be opened up to provide "large group accommodation" for up to 19 guests under one roof.
The East House is contained within the former byres and hayloft of the original 17th Century farm buildings, which were later annexed as part of the main house accommodation in Victorian times. After complete renovation this holiday house is equipped with all the modern facilities but retains the character and features of its early origins. The ingle-nook fireplace in the Sitting Room with its wood burning stove makes this a very cosy and relaxing space, and the room is now equipped with flat screen T.V. and free Wi-Fi. A communicating (but soundproof) door to Mid House also makes this a very flexible option for larger groups.
The Mid House has been formed within the living quarters of the original 17th century farmhouse. Adapted during the Victorian conversion 100 years later, the renovated premises now form a spacious holiday house with all modern facilities while retaining the character and features of its chequered history. Of particular note are the magnificent staircase and the popular feature of the log-burning stove in the Sitting Room. Wi-Fi and flat screen T.V. are recent additions. The provision of communicating (but soundproof) doors at each end of the ground floor corridor means that Mid House can be combined with East House or West House (or both) to make this a very flexible option for larger groups.
The West House has been formed within the Victorian extension to the original 17th century farmhouse building. Completely renovated in 2000, this holiday house now provides spectacular accommodation with all modern facilities, yet retaining theVictorian features. The Master Bedroom in this property with its bay window framing the view over Roslin Glen to the Pentland Hills beyond, makes this a favourite with all our guests. The log-burning stove in the spacious Sitting Room is a popular feature, and flat screen T.V. and Wi-Fi are recent additions. A communicating (but soundproof) door to Mid House also makes this a very flexible option for larger groups.

All linen, electricity and central heating are INCLUDED. Towels can be provided on request. A 20 % deposit is required to confirm booking. Full payment must be received six weeks before commencement of holiday. Cheques payable to J Young (Gorton House, Lasswade, Midlothian EH18 1EH) Dogs by prior arrangement are charged at £10 per week/part week each. SHORT BREAKS or LONGER LETS by arrangement. Arrival Time: 4 pm. Departure Time: 10 am. We do ask, please, that properties are left clean and tidy.
