The Wee Bothy is a one-bedroom, self-catering holiday cottage in the rural heart of the county of East Lothian. Tucked peacefully between the market town of Haddington and the villages of Garvald and Gifford, it’s still only 20 miles east of Edinburgh, and provides the perfect base for exploring all that the area has to offer.
An old tiler’s cottage in its former life, The Wee Bothy has now been converted into comfortable, modern accommodation. It forms one end of a small and pretty courtyard adjacent to the farmhouse - where horses and hens will be your neighbours - and looks out onto its own private walled garden, newly planted with fruit trees, to the outstanding views beyond.
The Wee Bothy offers all the home comforts.
The fully equipped kitchen is separated from the sitting area by a breakfast bar. There's also a small dining table and chairs, a sofa bed and a matching armchair. For entertainment, there's an LCD TV and DVD player, as well as a CD player.
The bedroom has a large and comfortable double bed with pure cotton bed linen. There's a relaxing view out onto the walled garden, and ample storage space so you can put away your suitcase and really settle in.
Because of the history of the building, there's no window in the bathroom, but it's still bright, spacious, clean and modern, with an electric shower over the bath.
Outside the Wee Bothy is a south-facing patio, perfect for soaking up the sun or watching the occasional wandering hen. It's completely private, and a barbecue is provided (with charcoal) to help you enjoy the long, peaceful summer evenings.
The property is centrally heated and all heating, electricity, linen and towels are included in the price.
A travel cot and high chair are available on request at no extra charge.
We would appreciate no smoking within The Wee Bothy, please.
If there's anything else you might want, do please just ask and we'll do all we can to provide it.

Take the Abbotsview Junction off the A1 and into Haddington (A6093). Follow the road down Hardgate and straight over the crossroads by the lights. Then, instead of following the right-hand bend into the High Street, continue straight on towards Gifford and the B6368. You'll pass Maitlandfield House on your right, then soon after will go over the bridge by the lights, and out of Haddington.
Follow the signs for Gifford (B6368) past Lennoxlove House on your right. After a long straight, the road turns sharp left, and then sharp right. Take the next left (signposted Morham, Garvald and Whittingehame) and, about 600m ahead, you'll see a left turn to Rentonhall Farm. Follow the drive, turning right at the end and up to the left of the farmhouse. The Wee Bothy is at the end of the track on the right.
* Haddington and the A1 – 2½ miles
* Gifford – 3 miles
* North Berwick – 12 miles
