Zur Alten Weinkelter is an historic listed building built in 1623 and is situated in the traditional wine village of Ellenz approximately 8 kilometres from the castle town of Cochem, easily accessible along the Moselweinstrasse.
Ellenz is accessible by local bus or why not peacefully cycle along the Mosel taking in the stunning views along the way. The house has a private garden & terrace with a covered Grill/BBQ area with seating An ideal way to spend some relaxing time, whether you prefer to read, paint or drink a glass of chilled Ellenz wine this is the perfect location.
Join us and our neighbours to sample some of the best wines in the world. See how the wine is made, Walk through the vines and last but not least take the wines home to remember your visit. The best wines are made and stay in Germany, come and see for yourself"
The Mosel valley has been associated with wine manufacturing from before the days of the Roman Empire. The wine village of Ellenz lies on the Moselweinstrasse roughly midway between Koblenz and Trier, which is Germany’s oldest town.
The beautiful and historic town Cochem is about 8 Kilometres away and offers all the charm and amenities that the Mosel has to offer.
The valley enjoys the reputation of being one of the warmest destinations in Germany or indeed central Europe.
Throughout the year there are many events the most important and in our opinion and the most fun are the winefests in August & September that take place in all the villages along the Mosel or for that later autumn break at the end of September /October the annual wine harvesting
There are many activities to do in the area why not take a leisurely boat trip an even have lunch on board.
For those who prefer the more active pursuits why not hire a canoe
Or perhaps just hire a bicycle and cycle along the Mosel.
Within easy reach you will find the world famous Nurburgring, which has all the excitement of the racing world with additional pleasure, parks for the children.
For the historians amongst us explore the many castle and ruins along the Mosel and the Rhine valley.

Directions
By road Ellenz lies on the Moselweinstrasse 49. Ellenz is about midway between Koblenz and Trier along the Mosel.
The nearest motorway is the 48 or Euro route E44. To give you an idea of travelling times here are some favourites.

Ellenz to Amsterdam 4 hours
Ellenz to Paris 5 hours 30 mins
Ellenz to Berlin 6 hours.
By train there are main line stations at both Cochem 8 Kilometres away and Bullay 24 Kilometres away. Both have links to national and the European rail network.
The nearest airport is Frankfurt-Hahn which is 45 Kilometres away.
Ryanair and Wizz-air fly from here. There are some great deals from the UK via Ryanair. Taxis are available from the airport and we can always help with transfer arrangements.
Cologne-Bonn airport is 120 Kilometres away with good motorway links around 1 hour 40 Minutes by car. There are train links available. Again we would be happy to help arrange transfer links.
