Château d’Oex is in many ways the quintessential Swiss alpine resort. Nestled on the south side of a valley amongst the French-speaking Alps, the town is the picture of a quaint ski village. To the west is the medieval village of Gruyères, world famous for its cheese; to the east, the international glamour resort Gstaad. Château d’Oex has a vast array of activities all year round. Skiing and snowboarding are the most popular activities here, with plenty of trails for both the novice and the advanced skier. Advanced skiers will have plenty to keep them busy. In fact, a Château d’Oex ticket enables you to ski the entire Gstaad 'Super Ski Region.' Visiting during the summer? No problem, the same ticket enables visitors to experience summer skiing on the gentle Diablerets glacier.
Perfect accomodation & location for a family hol!
We had a fantastic holiday staying in this beautiful appartment. A great deal of thought has obviously been put into providing everything that guests require during their stay.
The location is perfect; the pool, gym, sauna and lounge are outstanding and the cleanliness of the chalet was most impressive. We had the pool with panoramic views to ourselves most evenings!
So much to do in this area, we look forward to many more holidays in Chateau D'Oex. The whole process, from booking through to key collection was very prompt, friendly & well organised. I will definately recommend this chalet to family & friends. We had a wonderful holiday and we look forward to a return visit next year!
Highly recommended
This is a great apartment, very clean, new and well equipped tucked away from the crowds, in the corner of the village. I couldn't have asked for anything better! I would recommend to future holiday makers to bring slippers as the walk to the pool & sauna is a chilly one but well worth it with fantastic views!
We drove from Geneva airport (easy 1.5hr drive) and found the car very useful. There are local buses but a car for access to the slopes is advised (go to Rougemont for most variety, 10 min drive). I would recommend reserving restaurants ahead as the village can get very busy and tend to close quite early (not like London), we nearly became croppers simply thinking we could get a table on a Saturday night and had a hungry wait.
Overall, a fantastic holiday and I cannot wait to come back! Thank you very much.
