Description
This charming Perigourdine cottage consists of one bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a fully fitted kitchen with integrated sitting and dining room. There is a sofa bed that converts to a double bed in the ground floor living room. There are lovely views from all windows and a pretty private courtyard garden , ideal for relaxing in.
Romarin is situated in the hamlet of Defe a short drive from Castillones, where there are restaurants, bars and a lively weekly market. It is about 40 minutes drive from the Dordogne river with stunning chateaux, river side villages and canoing. There is a swimming lake at Lougratte about 10 minutes away by car.
Romarin can be reached by car within a day's drive from Le Havre, Caen, Santander, Bilbao, Barcelona.
Castillonnès is a twenty minute walk away, or a short 5 minute drive. This is a medieval ‘bastide’ village where there is a weekly market, a feature of the village since 1259. There is also a range of services including several bars and restaurants, a supermarket, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a trotting race hippodrome and a championship standard golf course at Chateau de Vigiers within half an hour's drive.
Romarin is situated on the border of the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne, the ‘Tuscany’ of France. This area is well known for its lovely warm summer climate, stunning countryside, vineyards, beautiful chateaux, medieval hilltop villages with their lively markets, brocantes, vide greniers, bodegas and summer fairs and, of course, the local gastronomical specialties of foie gras, magret of duck, prunes, walnuts and excellent quality locally produced wines.
Romarin offers a truly relaxing holiday in stunning countryside with an abundance of wildlife.

There is a swimming lake at Lougratte about 10 minutes drive away, and river swimming in the Dordogne (Limeuil and Cadouin le Buisson) as well as the refurbished public pool at Castillonnes. There are quiet country lanes along the Dropt valley with no steep hills so ideal for cyling. There are many footpaths in the area for walking.
