This beautiful old village house has been recently renovated to provide guests with every comfort. It is ideally located for exploring the beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon region and is just a five minute walk from the banks of the Canal du Midi which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its towpath provides the most beautiful, tranquil walking and cycling path. This old village house is situated in Capestang which is a lively village boasting two cafe bars in the main square and a selection of lovely restaurants. The village market on Wednesdays and Sundays is an event not to be missed, with lots of wonderful fresh local produce as well as interesting clothes and Knick-Knack stall. The village has two tourist offices, one on the banks of the canal and the other just around the corner from the house.
This village is a real working village in rural France away from the big tourist areas. It is a small French village but big enough that it has everything you could need, including six restaurants, three take-aways (french-style), a very good Intermarche supermarket, two banks, three hair-dressers and beauty salons, a number of small shops, post-office, souvenir shops, four boulangeries, a very well equipped library and is just within an hour to an airport that has regular flights from Ireland and the UK (Carcassonne).
Capestang village also provides easy accessibility to a number of wonderful attractions such as the medieval city of Carcassone which is about forty-five minutes by car and well worth a trip as well as the Mediterranean resorts of Valras-plage and Serignan which offer great beaches and wonderful restaurant choices for lunches plus other several other beaches,
This two storey house consist of two bedrooms, a large kitchen-cum-lounge with all the mod cons. The house has the original heavy beams and the stripped stone wall provides a wonderful backdrop to the kitchen. There is also a spacious covered terrace with barbecue and patio set complete with table and chairs that is ideal for alfresco dining as well as two bicycles great, for an enjoying cycling or pleasant sight-seeing.
On the other hand if you would like to have a quiet retreat to do some work or write that novel, the house has wireless internet access included in the price.

Beziers-Agde is the nearest airport at 35 minutes. Carcassonne airport is also easily accessible in about one hour. Other suitable airports include Perpignan (approx. 80 mins.), Toulouse (approx. 90 minutes) and Girona (approx. 2 hours). Nimes, Montpellier and Barcelona are all also within reach.
Use of a car is recommended for staying in this area.
