Set on the water’s edge in the heart of Cape Town’s acclaimed V&A Waterfront, Pembroke is the quintessence of luxury serviced accommodation for either business or holiday, rubbing shoulders with two of the world’s leading hotels, The One and Only, and Cape Grace.
Within walking distance of a myriad of bistros, gourmet restaurants, popular and designer shopping, and an internationally renowned aquarium, Pembroke is an oasis to which you can retreat after sampling the city’s busy delights.
Perched above the marina, relax and enjoy a languid drink at sunset, looking out over the water, or contemplate the majesty of Table Mountain after an invigorating day out and about.
When only the very best will do for your Cape Town trip, why look any further?
Retail food outlets and fine dining establishments are within walking distance. For a special occasion, enlist a private chef for that indulgent gourmet meal. We can arrange tours of the Winelands, as well as trips to experience the exceptional regional flora and fauna (e.g. botanical gardens or whale-spotting). The Cape is also a hotspot for Golf with many nearby courses. We will gladly organise airport transfers as well as assist with vehicle hire during your sojourn.
Cuisine in the Cape is superb with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and great flair. Fine dining establishments are within walking distance. For a special occasion, enlist a private chef for that indulgent gourmet meal.
Dining Out Magazine is a great place to start looking. Virtually all restaurants of any significance in the business and tourism areas of South Africa are featured here. The magazine is produced annually and gives annual awards to chefs and restaurants. The online version is readily accessible and constantly updated. A great reference. There is also a complementary publication, Eat In Magazine with its own website where one can find all kinds of information about where to buy the best of high quality food in South Africa.
Jardine at Jordan Winery on Bree Street opened its doors in 2006 and was inundated with accolades for its Scottish chef, George Jardine. Sadly it closed earlier this year. However, George had already opened another restaurant at the Jordan Winery in Stellenbosch which has taken his talents to even higher levels. This is a world class spot on the fine dining map but do reserve as far in advance as possible or you will be disappointed. Based on recent visits, in our view, it is currently contesting for the top spot among Cape Restaurants.
Aubergine is a long established restaurant in the Gardens area of Cape Town. The old building has been tastefully brought into the 21st century with a German/Austrian feel while the ambiance and food are constantly being innovated. A serious dining experience. Also try the Cinq-a-Sept experience for a lighter and more affordable experience.
Tokara is a beautiful restaurant in an architecturally stunning building set high on the Helshootge Pass overlooking the valley below. Food is exciting and contemporary. Tokara’s own wines are highly rated though its wine list also carried a fine selection of other wines. It is situated between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
The Grande Roche Hotels Bosmans Restaurant in Paarl has been awarded the Best of Award of Excellence 2009 by Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world for the second year in succession. This is a gourmet’s paradise and a truly memorable experience. The hotel itself is a beautiful and calm place to stay and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast on the veranda in the morning.
Vanilla is a very trendy, smart restaurant at the chic Cape Quarters with excellent & beautiful cooking - fine dining with a real wow factor. Enjoy a cocktail and admire the style. By day, have a coffee downstairs and watch the world go by.
Set on the busy and beautiful working harbour of Kalk Bay, 30 minutes from Cape Town, Harbour House is an amazing seafood well worth the short trip. Because of its setting, my own preference is for lunch rather than dinner. It serves the freshest fish and shellfish which are landed on its doorstep. These wonderful ingredients are enhanced but not overshadowed by innovative use of a variety of cooking styles. The wine list is very comprehensive and the final bill will surprise by its value. Enjoy this wonderful experience while the waves crash on the rocks below or, in season, with the Southern Right whales and their pups splashing about in full view. Definitely book ahead at this really popular venue. Afterward, you can buy some freshly landed fish or shellfish from the fishermen to take home. You can also buy the most fantastic breads at the Olympia Bakery just up the road towards Cape Town on the left - a real gem.

Seats 8 The glass Dining Table is another of Simon Croft's spectacular creations and provides generous seating for at least 8 people. The extremely comfortable dining chairs were specially made in a grey blue leather to match the sofa in the lounge and to marry in with Poggenpohl tall units in the Kitchen. The lighting of the Dining Area was created for atmosphere to allow focused lighting on the table while reducing the light level throughout the rest of the open plan space. All of this can be adjusted at the touch of a button on the B&O remote control. Serving to the table is made very easy across the high counter separating the Kitchen from the Dining area. We love to dine here having put together a lovely meal with a good bottle of wine from our cellar collection - also available to our guests. A few tea-lights is white porcelain holders add further to the atmosphere as does the wonderful sound of the music from the B&O speakers. Looking towards the balcony from the table and through the sheer red chilli metallic sheer drapes, the lights of the Marina shine like stars. It really is so magical. |

Seats 8 Leather, wood, glass and chrome combine to express a fresh “new millennium” look. Splashes of primary colours from original canvasses and artworks add vibrancy and interest to the spacious, yet homely, open planned lounge and dining area. Floor to ceiling doors open onto a large balcony overlooking the Marina and the Cape Grace Hotel and beyond through the Bascule Bridge, then the Swing Bridge at the Clock Tower and out on to the open sea. Flocati scatter cushions bring cosiness to the contemporary leather couches while the Chilli red silk drapes overlain with burgundy metallic organcy are dreamy. Stimulating the senses is the raison d’être of this apartment, including the ultimate comfort of our guests. DVD, CD player, TV, Stereo system |
