The apartment is one of the only truly beach front complexes in Blouberg (most others are 200+ meters back).
The apartment has been furnished by an interior designer, and has all mod cons one would expect in a luxury building.
15 minutes to Cape Town and the waterfront, and the same distance the other way to numerous wine estates.
The apartment is at the very highest end of the market, furnished to 5 star standards, with secure underground parking.
Blouberg beach is famous for its kite surfing and other watersports. Lessons or equipement are available from a surf shop on the ground floor. There is also an amazing Italian deli and seafood restaurant on the ground floor.
Portico is located on the beachfront of Blouberg, approximately 15 minutes from Cape Town centre, and 25 minutes from Cape Town Inter...national Airport. The Durbanville Wine Route starts just fifteen minutes away, and further a field, the Stellenbosch and Paarl Wine Routes can be reached in 40 minutes.
Closer to home, there are cafes and restaurants alongside the apartment, whilst cinemas, a large shopping complex and banks are within 5 minutes by car. The largest and most luxurious shopping mall in Southern Africa can be found 10 minutes away by car at Canal Walk,as can Ratanga Junction, a themed entertainment park. The Grand West Casino is 15 minutes drive away, and if you are feeling active, there are 2 gyms (Virgin Active and Planet Fitness just round the corner).
There are 2 local golf courses within 15 minutes of the apartment (2 of the most scenic in the Cape, 'Atlantic Beach' and 'Milnerton golf course', and the Cape Town Waterfront shopping centre and tourist attraction is an easy 15 minutes drive away.
I can highly recommend the Blue Peter bar and restaurant down the road, where the canny locals go for a 'sundowner' whilst watching the sun disappear over Table Mountain, and there is an Italian deli on the ground floor, that is perfect for breakfast and lunch.
Vacationing in the Western Cape is like having a decades worth of holidays rolled into one. The gorgeous beaches, with their views of the unmistakable Table mountain, the amazing wine routes, the historical significance of Robben Island, amazing botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch, shark diving, whale watching, seal Island, swimming with penguins at Bolders, Two Oceans Acquarium, game reserves and the picturesque Garden route drive.
Portico is located in the perfect spot: Beach on your doorstep, sandwiched between the Cape Town Waterfront and the Winelands (15 mins either side).

Cape Town International airport is 20 minutes drive away. 99% of visitors to cape town do hire a car (as public transport is slightly limited).
That being said - at the end of January 2011, the first BRT system in Cape Town (Bus Rapid Transport! - New buses with exclusive use of bus lanes) will open and run from Blouberg to the centre of Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront.
Stunning
The flat was immaculate. Beautifully and luxuriously done up - every room is just stunning.
The view from the balcony is just amazing. You will never be bored of sitting out watching the sun set by Table Mountain. The view is just breath taking.
The flat is well equipped with everything that you would need and some great bars/restaurants within 5 mins walk.
A great stay and I would definately go again!
Highly recommended
My wife and I stayed at the apartment in March 2010. The views really are amazing, and there is a great little Deli on the first floor. The booking process was easy, and the apartment very sunny. Highly recommended!
Fabulous Location
This apartment was highly recommended by friends who had stayed here previously. It didn't disappoint! The apartment was extremely clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The weather was perfect and access to Cape Town and the wine estates was very easy. A great spot to enjoy a 'sundowner' watching the sun set over the beach. Overall, a really great place to stay.
Fab!
We only stayed for 3 days before flying back to the Ukand wish we'd stayed longer! Very comfortable apartment and enough restaurants and café's nearby meaning we could be lazy and not jump in the car for 3 days. A very relaxing end to our trip.
We would love to live there one day!!!
We have only wonderful memories of our two visits to 502 Portico! The apartment is spacious and cleanand in a safe neighborhood. It has spectacular views of Table Mountain and Bloubergstrand Beach...convienient to shopping, the airport and "The Waterfront" and within walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants and services such as laundry facilities and internet cafes. We cannot wait to return in January 2011 to walk the beach!!!
Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in this world and my fellow americans must add it to their list, especially with the value of the dollar against the rand.
Just remember, our winter is their summer!
Beautiful accommodation- perfect holiday
Secure accommodation overlooking the sea and Table Mountain. Ideal for beech walks and wind surfing. Carlucci's on the ground floor, offers superb breakfasts and lunches. The Waterfront, with a wide range of shops and restaurants, is 20/25 minutes away.Definately one of the worlds' most beautiful cities.
Very comfortable, relaxing and highly recommended
Getting there is simple and checking-in was trouble free. The view definitely has the 'Wow' factor, as you step onto the balcony with the beach and sea just below you and seeing Table Mountain from its best side. Very comfortable, well equipped and clean inside and smartly furnished. Spoilt for choice for eating options nearby, as well as a supermarket. Cape Town's attractions are easy to get to, and so this is an ideal base from which to explore the area and we will be coming back!
Everything you think you want and more
We stayed in this property for 5 days at the start of our vacation in South africa. It was absolutely everyting we hoped it would be. Having arrived in Cape Town extremely tired after a long flight and having both been working exceptionally hard, we were hoping to a nice relaxing 5 days. We were not disappointed.
Firstly the flat itself - it is so comfortable with absolutely everything you would want provided to a high standard. Some of the furnishings are beautiful - great bedroom, lounge and bathroom.
Secondly, the balcony - this was a real treat and probably star of the show. As mentioned, having arrived after a long journey, being able to sit on a comfortable balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean and amazing view of table mountain was just what we were after.
Thirdly, the local area - everything you need is within very short distance with a beautiful beach, and good selection of really nice bars and restaurants nearby. Also the more boring practical stuff like supermarkets etc. Then only a short drive to some of the other things everyone wants to do in cape Town (camps bay, robben island etc)
Overall - our stay lived up to all our expectations and exceeded them. It really is everything you want/need and more at extemely reasonable rates
Style, surf & natural beauty
What an amazing spot to have a luxurious stay. The stylish decor and state of the art appliances comlemented the views and ambience of the surrounds in Cape Town. Established quality restaurants are opening up in this lively area with so many activities to do. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Awesome all round!
I had the pleasure of being the first person to stay at this property back in March 08. It was beautifully furnished and finished with very new, modern furnishings and decor. The place is a great size and well laid out, with spectcular views from a great balcony, straight out to Robin Island, as well as Table Mountain to the left and the full expanse of Blouberg Beach to the right.
Daytime or nightime, it's a very comfortable place to be. The surrounding area is packed full of restaurants and bars / pubs within easy walking distance.
The beach was well kept and clean, it's a must stay place if you're in to Kiteboarding.
After the first 3 days there, I called Rob and extended my stay for two more nights. There's no doubt where I'm staying on my next visit to Cape Town.
Luxurious stay on the beach
My partner and I stayed at this lovely apartment, it was close to all the restaurants and a stone throw away from the beach. I would recommend staying here as it's in an ideal location, you're in close to central Cape Town but also close to the winelands area which is a must to visit. The apartment itself was decorated to a high standard. Great stay
