This 3 bedroomed detached holiday cottage near Llanberis was built c1850 as a traditional Welsh Cottage. It has since been extended and fully refurbished and is equipped to a very high standard. The cottage is situated in the village of Brynrefail by the picturesque Lake Padarn, 1½ miles from Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon from where the Snowdon Mountain Railway starts. It is only 4 miles from the historic Royal Town of Caernarfon with its magnificent castle, 15 minutes from the Isle of Anglesey and is an ideal holiday base for exploring Snowdonia and the rest of North Wales.
This 5 star self catering holiday cottage features a comfortable lounge with a leather suite, LCD HD TV with Freesat HD, DVD, and Hi-Fi with CD. The recently fitted kitchen is well-equipped, with a separate dining area with a farmhouse style table and 6 chairs.
The fully tiled bathroom has a WC, washbasin and a shower-bath with an electric shower.
There are 2 spacious bedrooms with king-size beds and vanity units with washbasins and shaving points. The third bedroom has a full size single divan bed with a narrower pull-out divan bed, suitable for children. Therefore, the cottage is not suitable for more than 5 adults.
There is a laundry/drying room with automatic washing machine and tumble drier and ample room for storage of mountain bikes, walking gear, etc. There is parking at the front of the cottage.
The pretty enclosed rear garden has two patios, garden furniture, and BBQ and is perfect for relaxing in the evening after a day spent exploring Snowdonia and North Wales. This cottage is ideally placed for exploring Snowdonia and the rest of North Wales. See our local area page for more about the attractions and activities of Snowdonia and North Wales. Visit the many Castles (there are even enough to visit a different one each day for a week), including the magnificent Caernarfon Castle which overlooks the Menai Straits and is a World Heritage Site.
Ride the Great Little Trains of Wales and see some of the best scenery in the British Isles. All are narrow gauge steam railways and some have a history of over 100 years, they are all different and unique.
From Llanberis, about a mile from the cottage, ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway – Britain’s highest rack railway – to the Summit of Mt. Snowdon 3,560ft (1,085m) the highest mountain in England and Wales and visit the newly opened £8.4m Summit Visitor Centre. Or take a leisurely train ride from Llanberis alongside Lake Padarn.
You can also ride on the newly extended Welsh Highland Railway from Caernarfon through the foothills of Snowdon then climbing to give spectacular views before descending to picturesque Beddgelert and then through the Aberglaslyn Pass which has been voted the Best View in Britain. The last section of track to Porthmadog is now open. From 7 April to 20 September an open-topped bus (S197) runs daily between Beddgelert and Porthmadog.
In addition to the many Castles and Steam Railways there are Adventure Parks suiting all ages from 1yr. upwards, gardens and many National Trust Properties.
You can explore the scenery of Snowdonia, the Llyn Peninsula, Anglesey or the North Wales Coast. Go bird watching see Puffins, Ravens & Choughs at RSPB South Stack on Anglesey, Ospreys near Porthmadog or visit the RSPB Reserve at Conwy.
You can also go walking, climbing, mountain biking, golfing, diving or fishing. Local attractions include beautiful beaches; an 18-hole golf course on the edge of the Menai Straits and the renowned Plas Menai Water Sports Centre is nearby. For high ropes adventure try Ropes and Ladders.
