Description
Polly's Perch has recently undergone renovation and refurbishing. The interior reflects the traditional aspects of the cottage, which include some fireplaces and original stone walls, while giving the house a clean, warm and modern feel. The house stands on an elevated ground with a terraced garden at the front facing the sea. There is a bedroom on the ground and upper floors. The lounge has a wood burning stove and a sofa bed which can sleep two additional guests. There are steps leading to the front door. The house is just a short walk from the harbour, marina and shops.
The bedroom on the top floor has a king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has twin beds. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, wc, basin and heated towel rail. Both bathrooms are new.
The kitchen has a dishwasher, hob, oven, built in water filter, fridge with ice box and microwave oven. There is also a dining table. An additional sink and a washing machine are available in the utility room. Guests are also provided with storage for fishing equipment, push chairs, crabbing lines and wind break.
Guests have full access to TV, DVD player and freeview box. Linen will be included in the rent starting 2011.
Outside is a small yard which leads to small outbuildings. Originally, these were the kitchen and loo. Garbage is stored here. There is also a lovely terraced garden equipped with outdoor furniture where guests can enjoy alfresco dining.
Brixham is a working fishing port with a pretty natural harbour bursting with colourful traditional terraced houses. There is a small town beach and a sea water pool nearby. The stunning Berry Head headland, with its Napoleonic fort, lies at the end of Torbay.
Brixham has a lot of pubs and restaurants. There are also two small supermarkets, green grocers, a deli, a butcher and a fudge shop. A golf course at Churston is approximately 2 miles away from Brixham.
The nearest airport is at Exeter and is about a 45 min drive away. The Paignton station is the nearest rail terminal, but travelers can also take local buses which run from Brixham to Paignton every 10 minutes. The nearest main line station is at Newton Abbot. It has regular trips from Paddington, London.
Guests are faced with many local attractions and activities to choose from. Brixham attractions are just 5 miles away at maximum. Guests will enjoy a steam railway trip from Paignton to Dartmouth, as well as visits to Paignton Zoo, Babbacombe model village, National Trust locations, Berry Head Country Park and Torquay's 'living coast'. There are many coastal and inland walks as well as ferry trips crossing Torbay, Dartmouth and Dart river. There are also fishing trips and charter yacht for tourists.

Local shops include small supermarkets, green grocers, a butcher, the deli,and most banks. Fish can be bought fresh from the fish market (or you can catch your own!). There are many pubs and restaurants, and out of the town centre is a farm shop on approach to Brixham, with local produce.
